My company has an in house librarian and he is extremely cool but I don't know what search engine he uses. Probably bing because that's the default.

I bought civ 6 on steam and installed it, played for 2 hours, and uninstalled + refunded because it runs like poo poo on the mac. maybe also on PC idk. Now I'm back to playing rollercoaster tycoon 2 on the windows vm and it's fantastic.

that pricing is way too high. yesterday i did 65 searches (i went to my google history and counted) on my personal account. it was a work day, so i definitely also did some on my work account. let's just say 65 though. that means my cheapest option would be paying $25 a month and lol, lmao, lomarf even. i'd probably pay $5 a month, though. maybe more

Cybernetic Vermin

yeah, i'm trying it out too but i don't see any way i can motivate what it'd cost

the fact that i am running the numbers should reveal that i like it a lot though

how hosed up is it that im thinking "man there's a decent possibility this is just some three-letter org" -> "well, the nsa won't try to show me ads so that's no so bad, im not actually doing nothing theyd give a poo poo about..."

Yeah, the primary reason is I forgot it existed and regular rct2 was already in my steam library. But (no sarcasm) thank you for the reminder.

Agreed on pricing is too high. I paid $25 for this one month (with a one-time-use card ofc :chord:) but wouldn't do this monthly. Maybe I can get work to pay for it though.

yeah it's too high currently. I am on the early adopter $10 plan for 1000 searches and it's barely enough

Google Search is dog poo poo.

If someone could actually do better, even if that's just filtering the endless SEO'd garbage, I'd pay $5 a month for that. $25 is hilarious though.

Bing unironically does an OK job at this, but the way the present results is terrible. Like all things MS, they get half way there and gently caress up the easy part.

the good thing about bing is that if you don't like the way it presents results theres like 20 different search engines that use it under the hood anyway

yeah like kagi actually.

anyway idk how many more days I have left but my conclusion is I’d pay five bux and in a weird twist I will probably go to bing and not google when this month is over.

Cybernetic Vermin
Apr 18, 2005

kagi is a real clear showcase that bing can be cleaned up to be useful, but bing itself remains pretty garbage.

being able to banish a site from results is a killer feature, downright tempting to set up a cheaper alternative stealing just the ddg bangs and that banish feature.

yeah if ms decided to actually clean up bing instead of just bolting more dumb crap to it, google would be in a lot of trouble

kinda makes you wonder why they don't do it

i'd say bing should run ads that show off the quality of search results again but they are both so loving bad now that it'd be useless
