I was in the crusty/gutterpunk/oogle/squatter milieu for a number of years after I left home. I never liked punk music so I never adopted the full aesthetic. I did smell really bad though. Now I touch computers and smell okay. The more itinerant ones often concentrate in either Tucson or New Orleans for winter, Minnesota and North Dakota for the sugar beet harvest in fall, and near major railroad crew change points in warmer months. They tend to dress in more earth tones and prefer folk infused punk. The more stationary ones tend to squat in major cities, one or two neighborhoods over from the current hot gentrification neighborhood. They tend to dress in mostly black and prefer metal infused punk.
