I always feel compelled to dress up in a trench coat, a broad rimmed hat and shades whenever I must pass throughout the furry part of the internet (not forgetting my handy "please don't interact with me" sign) which is a hassle but there's that amazingly good taco place on the other side of the zone so I can't complain.

I still think the reason facebooks metaverse project failed so hard is that they decided not to pander to furries. Everyone had to be an uncanny crotchless human avatar. Look at second life, made in 2004 and incredibly jank but it is still earning the company money nearly two decades later by fully embracing all the weird internet subcultures.

VR Chat was a fun distraction during the early days of Covid during lockdowns when all there was to do was get hammered in my apartment in the evenings. But its hard to find anyone approaching normal to talk to, and you can only talk to loving weirdos for so long. Once in awhile you'd run into someone cool, like the guy who was a muscian in real life so was just creating weird mix stuff while on there. It's mostly furries tho, so you should fit right in OP.

Most of my friends from Altspace now have homie and big booty avatars. It was surprising pretty much all the women I knew unanimously use ridiculously thick boob/butt avatars with jiggle physics.

That's pretty cool IMO. I guess I've never gotten into social games, but I've also never tried. Regardless, they clearly click with a lot of people so it's cool to see them continue to get development attention.

I got VR because I was interested in having whatever kinds of displays for work, and to use Tilt Brush after I demoed it in a gallery. Now all I do is social VR, and Among Us VR, which is also very much social. Also, I am not really into VR that takes physical effort… but looking around and feeling like you are in the environment is essential to me.

unironically it kinda does it absolutely does hosed up things with your brain to see your movements translate almost 1:1 to a virtual model as you're staring into a mirror, and depending on how easy it is for you to immerse yourself in the fantasy it quickly becomes just like... natural. even moreso if you find/make/commission a model that you feel 'fits' you and your idealized aesthetic there's even a whole phenomena about 'phantom touch' where the simulation is somehow just realistic enough, that if someone does something like stick their hand near your face, you actually feel a weird sensation on your face like there is someone's hand just hovering over it. obviously stuff like more involved body contact/nonvisible stuff/etc doesn't do anything, that's just people more or less roleplaying, but the fact that you do get weird stuff like that is like insane but also spooky as hell Canine Blues Arooo posted:Is VR Chat fun? I too favor the idea of a VR meetup. Unlike the real thing the smells stay quarantined, and i can duck out any time i want without social pressure.

I attended a few VR raves during the pandemic and may go again someday, I saw a few decent sets. I was also kinda interested in a chess world. My favorite world for no apparent reason is a Danny devito always sunny acid trip world.
