Just watched Barry Lyndon. I've only seen The Shining and 2001 by Kubrick before so was looking forward to this one and I'm always a sucker for period pieces. Also had a very solid moral philosophy (don't trust the Irish menace, they only lie). Felt a bit slow in parts but over all I really really liked it. Feels like it actually uses its three hour runtime to tell the full story of a guy's life instead of feeling like a 90 minute movie stretched into a 2.5 hour one. I would have one tapped Bullingdon no problem though

Watched Infernal Affairs and it has a way more interesting ending/overall message than the Departed.

Infernal Affairs is great, I never checked out the two sequels because they seemed like cash-ins rather than a planned trilogy. Tony Leung ftmfw

I saw Stalker ('79) recently in theaters and loved it. I was expecting a more sci-fi experience where it ended up more being a character study/philosophical piece. It was a good theater movie, if I'd tried to watch it at home I'd probably have gotten distracted and thought it was dumb. The moment where the movie switches from sepia to full color caught me totally off guard and it was cool feeling like people must have felt in seeing wizard of oz back in the day.

Watched a bunch of stuff on holidays.

The Godfather: it’s over three hours and starts with an elaborate wedding scene so you know it owns. Brando ftmfw

The Prestige: Decent enough but I’d had the major plot twists spoiled years ago which definitely deflated it a bit. Also think having the actual cloning machine kind of undermined the really good parts of the film to me.

Edge of Tomorrow: finally got around to watching my 4K disc of it. Film still whips so much rear end

Emma: I love Jane Austen adaptations and this was another excellent one. Regency era romance ftw

I watched Jacob's Ladder the other day, can definitely see how it influenced Silent Hill. I was expecting clearer shots of the faceless demons but was glad that they stayed mostly obscured.

Rewatched Rashomon, I love how sloppy the final version of the fight scene is, just two guys in a mediocre battle to the death.

Watched Winchester '73. I'm not usually a fan of James Stewart, but he's ok in this. Pretty wild story of a cursed rifle that everyone wants, including a native played by Rock Hudson. I'd say it's worth a watch, but keep your expectations low.

been watchin vinland saga, it fuckin rocks. the writer really did a shitload of research, i know a bunch about the norse age and pretty much all the small details make sense for the time. it really does feel like readng a saga too, theres all the weird side stories and the feel is 100% spot on. big, big ups for all norseheads out there

watched the wonder on Netflix, big star performance from Florence Pugh who I really liked in it (I had only really seen her in a major role in little women). A pretty cool little movie with some interesting framing choices although i wish there was a bit more tension/ambiguity around the central mystery. Feel like it disappeared without a trace but worth checking it out.

oh yah i watcdhed the dungeons and dragons movie. better than i thought itd be, like a 7/10 movie. it ws pretty funny that every time the barbarian lady started a fight all of her punches and kicks were abrupt cuts where you couldnt see her face at all and her arms and legs were way bigger and tougher lol

Watched Confess, Fletch last night when I was looking for something short and light after thread recommendation. Decent little pulpy mystery, love films like this. The pay off with the van was neat. Really reminded me of the Hugh Laurie book The Gun Seller

Went to the cinema to see Across the Spider-Verse today. It's incredibly good and as good if not better than the first one. The animation I feel is somehow a massive jump forward again over the original. Incredibly excited to see the second part. Miles ftw

welcome to the occult forest, a short tv series made by Koji Shiraishi. like several of his other works it features alternate universe versions of previous characters once again battling evil japanese spirits.
