FnM's version of War Pigs. It's perfectly fine and well played but it doesn't really add anything to the original. It's just like what a decent Black Sabbath cover band would have done.

Bathory's version was cool, though

I was on the boat between Helsinki and Stockholm and heard a house remix Killing Me Softly With His Song that made me wonder, who asked for this?

In that thread, what other songs aren’t really crying out for a remix or cover? Lennon’s Imagine but dubstep? Second Wave Black Metal The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald? J-Pop Werewolves of London (uwuuuuuu werewolves of London)?

Bonus points if you manage to find an example. Totally fine if you like the actual original or cover, ain’t no shame (maybe)

I was at a wedding two weeks ago and they did a remix of Baby Got Back. Why remix a perfect song?

Hey, look. Look, if- if you screw me on this, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine, you rat bastard!
I'm crazy because I sometimes find a song I really like and will try to track down covers to sort of 'hear it again for the first time'. It used to be insanely hard because there are so many songs with the same titles and Youtube Music isn't helpful in finding stuff at times.

I think I used this a few times to narrow down to what I was looking for: https://secondhandsongs.com/

Specifically, a really neat feature is to be able to sort covers by release date.

But I found a fun bit of trivia trying to find a Queen cover listed on the site for a band called "Killers":

"In 1980 it was not possible to include Queen in compilations, so EMI created this band to cover Crazy Little Thing Called Love and include it in a compilation. "

I forgot to add this obscenely bad cover of "Totalimmortal" by The Offspring. As much as love The Offspring, I can't forgive them for this. They took the heart & soul out of the original, especially the vocals.

Evidently Dolores was supposed to provide some vocals for that "Zombie" cover before she died. I don't want to say that no one should cover that song, but uh, I'd get the approval of the surviving members of The Cranberries first.

Ok so Eric loving Clapton did a cover (kind of) of a Yellow Magic Orchestra song, Behind the Mask.

https://youtu.be/SG_SgsG1-_o

Clapton’s version is technically a cover of a version that was supposed to go to Michael Jackson work out until later, when that demo was release (and it’s not terrible)

However, Greg Phillinganes took it and turned it into a loving banger. Holy poo poo this song RULES, I’ve been obsessed with it for like a month now. Incorporating YMOs original while taking it to 11.
