This is spin off of the trump lol thread since we had so many amazing posts of videos from the onion

In the beginning stages of the Onion they made a lot of videos

They made a 10 episode reality show called Sex House

https://youtu.be/0App7QizQCU

They had a morning show called Today Now

https://youtu.be/PyV-oTTyIWg

https://youtu.be/6z_hkA2jWQs

https://youtu.be/YZgXg_7kVI8

They had Sports Dome which was their sports show

https://youtu.be/tByP3Q-zTUw

https://youtu.be/vXvy968BCs8

And of course they had their newsroom

https://youtu.be/9U4Ha9HQvMo

https://youtu.be/Rw8gE3lnpLQ

Thanks for this. I’m one of the few who never watched their videos, and I’m just starting to dig through them now.

The Joad Cressbeckler series is a scream:

I've read The Onion since around 2001 but I hadn't watched the videos in about a decade or more, so many good ones. It can be hard to read the headlines scrolling at the bottom but they're almost all gems, like in this one

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXQTaWjMoFw

Where one just says "Scientists find all humans descended from ancient slut" so matter-of-factly that I had to pause the video because of how hard it made me laugh.

Kind of sad the new content mostly looks like people from fiver reading fake headlines over green screen. But I remember when the Onion was in dire financial straits and didn't they almost have to shutter?

Anyway their future news series is the best and I used to really like click hole content, but in the spirit of this thread I'm not gonna link or embed anything. 😂

There's a thread over in PYF with links to a lot of the greatest hits. It'd take a while to go through all of it but it might not be a bad way to spend some time.

Yeah they were acquired by the same PE jackals as Deadspin and AVClub who tried their damned to drive out all of the talented writers and cut costs.

I spent my formative teenage years reading “Our Dumb Century,” it’s still great.

Why did they stop making videos?

The movie was fun, haven't seen it in ten years, wonder if it holds up. At the end it just shows a clip of a nun sitting on a park bench drinking from a jar labeled ape cum with no context.

My favorite Onion article though was when Citizen's United was passed in the supreme court, and the article for it was just a completely straight article like you'd see on these clickbait political websites. Appropriate.
