The union can't even get a reasonable escrow rate, no way that can block anything from the Hockey Canada tbinf

so not good

Betting odds say 40% ish, and that’s probably about right.

I’d say what matters more than if Myers is on the team or not, is are Hughes/Hronek/Cole/Soucy a viable top 4. If the answer is yes then whoever of Myers or the numerous bottom pair/fringe nhl defenders they have are playing 14 minutes in sheltered competition shouldn’t matter that much. In such a scenario Myers might even impress. (I feel that role/quality of competition for defenders is one of the hardest to project and the current stats often don’t tell the story that well). Which is equally why expecting Soucy to be a viable top 4 guy is not a given.

If Myers is playing 20 minutes… then yes it’s going to be a train wreck.

Chicago was always going to be the villain of the year anyway. Getting to draft Bedard should never have happened.

The best sweet ice tea is Gold Peak raspberry. Blueberry went away during the pandemic, and lemon is only available in Canada. Also, the Canadian version is less sweet/sugary than the American version.

quote:

Percentiles with the bar graphs are based on each player’s Offensive, Defensive and Net Rating relative to their time-on-ice slot, i.e. the first forward is compared to other first forwards only.

For example, the two Sharks goalies have a -2 rating, but for the second goalie, that’s a median goalie. The first goalie with a -2 may be in the bottom 10%.

I have no idea about the veracity of the Ratings themselves, but at least that starts to explain the bars. The Sharks have a decent Bottom 6 and 3rd pair, but that’s only compared to other teams respective players.

Parkatti is a friend of a friend and has been working in actual data analytics for quite a while. He's a super smart guy and his blog was great when he'd post once every 3 months on it. From what I've heard they're building a real department cause Jeff Jackson isn't 85 years old and understands what its worth (considering he had a full analytics dept at his agency).

Its business model for a long time was to only sell directly to pro sports franchises, not commerical retail. Presumably as a groundswell marketing thing to create demand. It eventually got sold to some cannabis company and I think they found out too late it wasn't even coming close to breaking even, so tried to ratchet up marketing and get it to shelves for consumers. I saw it in a Walmart once but it didn't last. It's too niche a product and NHL players just aren't cool enough to drive demand. It was basically an Ontario hockey bro exclusive product and could never gain a foothold beyond that.

Two of the mainstay Devils beat reporters have said Alexander Holtz looks noticeably faster on his skates. He's also a bit leaner.

It's too early to say anything about whether or not Holtz can stick this year, but pushing the pace and having an NHL compete level were two sore spots he needed to work on. If he can skate with the rest of them and fire that cannon, that would be huge for NJ. I'd be happy if Holtz got PP2 time and middle six time and wound up with 20 goals.

It's depressing how spot on Travis Yost was. Not that it's surprising, but McCann is now the first line centre of a divisional rival and that 2nd round pick turned into Rasmus Adplund who's the exact type of depth centre the Canucks have been furiously searching for since the trade.

Ah well, at least they turned Gudbranson into Pearson (who might in turn cost us Pettersson).
