There was a period in the late 70s through the 80s where rap was getting popular and a bunch of bands decided they could incorporate rap into their sound, except it usually sucked. I was listening to the radio the other day and Rapture by Blondie came on, and I had forgotten about Debbie Harry's horrible rap about eating cars or whatever. The song is otherwise a pretty decent disco song but yecch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHCdS7O248g this made me think of another song i mostly like, Roll the Bones, by Rush, which is a pretty solid prog pop tune apart from the goofy af rap towards the end.
