Welcome to Blockbuster Movie Club. Myself, Fungah, and Subactuality figured this would be a great way to keep engagement here up, along with helping and encouraging imps to discover or revisit some movies. They might be great. They might be awful. But they will be watched. For now we don't really have any guidelines on what kind of movies should or should not be watched, beyond they are reasonably easy to find. Each week we will roll for someone to pick a movie, and then we'll have up to two weeks to watch the movie, then write up our own review/thoughts on the movie and share and discuss it.

If anyone wants to join movie club just post in this thread, then tomorrow on Monday we will roll for who gets to pick our first movie.

House review

Strange movie. a lot going on visual wise, the story was kind of there, the acting was really hammy but feels like it fit here so nothing wrong with it.
Every single scene had something going on, so it did a great job of keeping me engaged. I thought the main jingle really worked here even if it felt overused, it just felt like part of the house. Kung fu was def the standout of the cast of friends, and man do i hate that cat.
8/10 def recommend but dont expect a mastapeece.

STING 64
Oct 20, 2006

the balcony scene where gorgeous meets her stepmother just has way too much going on lol the score, the set and sunset backdrop, the weird clothes and scarves the stepmother wears, man this movie owns.

STING 64
Oct 20, 2006

Finally finished malcolm this morning. I thought it was okay, for what is essentially an independent australian film its not a bad outing, but even for its time it still feels...like it's two thirds of a movie. it was slow but i thought the inventions were pretty fun and were easily the highlight of the movie and the heist at the end was funny. the acting was kinda whatever but considering its budget maybe that adds to its charm. 7 out of 10.

Sub-Actuality is responsible for this pick.

The Wrong Guy dir. by David Steinberg
