What use had they for tricks and cunning, living in the enemy's warren and paying his price?

I hate that walmart isn't 24 hours. I really enjoyed doing my shopping after 12.

this entirely. also most grocery stores by me don't open until 7am now when they used to be 24/7.

I don't go to stores so much anymore. Pre Covid I'd drive somewhere to window shop and usually buy something because I was already there.

But with online shopping I kinda don't need to, and in some ways that is worse because I can just order poo poo and forget I did a day or two later. My credit card remembers though.

I miss eating out even in lovely restaurants. Save money there too, I guess, but it does suck being the only person who doesn't go out to eat much anymore. One of my friends got back from an international trip a few weeks ago and I ran into him at a grocery store where he wasn't masked. So him insisting he was masked during his trip doesn't mean much. Dude used to be very good with that poo poo too, but he is over masking. Another friend has had Covid twice and thinks it's no big deal despite the first time kicking his rear end, so he eats out all the time and goes to crowded casinos and is annoyed if I won't go because I'm the only one in a mask.

Does anyone else remember when Costco didn't have limits on anything and it was during the toilet paper shortage? I remember seeing people loading up with four or five packets of the massive toilet paper when most stores didn't have any, and Costco just kind of shrugged about it.

And then one day Costco got on the bandwagon and that was when all the lines started for me outside the store and they would have big dry erase boards by the carts that listed off what they were out of and how many you could purchase of each item, like one thing of toilet paper or one thing of paper towels or one thing of Kleenex but you could not get all three.

They heavily enforced the masking for I think about three maybe four days. And then after that they just gave up, you had to have a mask to enter Costco, but once you were passed the membership card check, nobody cared. And so I saw most other customers with the mask hanging off their ears or on their forehead. For a place that is so much about security to the point they crack down on membership sharing and they insist on seeing your receipt when you leave and they insist on seeing your membership card when you walk in and when you pay, they were pretty lax about the masking.

Edit: and gently caress the people who argue that slow driving causes accidents. For work I have a pretty high profile corporate wrapped delivery van that has a pretty wide turn radius and a high flip capacity. I also have a camera on me from the second I put the key in the ignition and it measures if you go anything over 5 miles over the speed limit. For more than a minute. I'm not going to risk a police ticket, as well as internal tickets because I'm the only one doing 55 in the construction zone marked as 55 when everyone else is speeding by at 65 or 70.

pre Covid there was this horrible intersection near downtown Phoenix by the college, and the movie theater and some busy hotel. Stop signs at all the three corners (the fourth was a shopping area) and the students would never loving stop to check for traffic. I remember seeing just swarms of college kids walking from the theater or the college to the street without pause, trusting the cars would stop.

Then the stop signs were removed, and a red-light bar was over the intersection, where the peds would have to tap a crosswalk sign. That didn't stop the mass surge of people still walking into the road or the cars going right up to the crosswalk or through it when they thought the light was blinking (yield) instead of on (stop).

Now there's thankfully actual red and green lights, which at least controls the cars better.

Is it just Mcdonalds that removed their soda machines from the lobby, or everyone else too? Not sure if that was because of Covid or because it's easier for them to keep all that poo poo behind the counter.

There was a dude I worked with who was hardcore Trump, and when Covid had barely started, about January/Feb of 2020, the dude wore a gas mask. A literal loving gas mask, when people mostly hadn't even heard of masking yet. So you see this dude walk in a store with a gas mask, and he is the only one in a mask at all, I am surprised the fucker didn't get shot.

He ended up being let go because once mask mandates were a thing, he refused to wear any, and when a customer asked him to please mask when delivering medical equipment, he started screaming at the customer about his rights.

As for hunting Americans, I wonder, if you got the 5G CovID vaccine, think they'd still eat you because what if the poo poo passes through the meat? You gotta soak the meat in Covid water to neutralize it?

the knee jerk contrarian reaction of trumpers overs masks is one of my favorite parts.

i bet if trump had stood up on stage and put on an american flag mask or whatever they would have done the opposite of what they did and gone into stores shaming people for not wearing masks properly or whatever and made a huge stink over masking up or get out of my country

this. and he would have probably won re-election easily.

all someone had to do to Trump was show him the money. Make Trump masks, make it a law you need to wear masks and get a Trump vaccine, show that you are American and not afraid of CHIIINA.

The money and votes would have rolled in.

The problem with immersing yourself in a flood of nutso to seem more like you believe something is that, sooner or later, you’ll start buying into your lies on a subliminal level. I don’t care what Alex Jones claims to be, he’s basically walking cognitive dissonance who loudly projects his own disordered thinking onto everyone he’s decided is An Enemy, and the people he’s suckered aren’t nearly as likely to realize there’s a contradiction at play. One of my childhood friends was his right wing man for a while, and now runs a conspiracy site of his own that’s not less crazy than Prison Planet.

TruthStream Media, for those curious.

pretty much anything with the word Truth in it is like Patriot or Real American: you know they're loving nuts.

I think Charles Manson had some similar idea and quote, that if you get people isolated and you tell them things they know deep down might not be true, you keep them from news (or tell them it's all fake) eventually they believe whatever crap you tell them. It worked for him overall.

I have monthly aquarium meetings, and most of the attendees are older and retired. None of them ever wore a mask to any meeting, and lots of them complain that I do, because "we can't hear you talking" when I am reading off notes or calling raffle winners. At one point I lost my temper because they kept whining they couldn't hear me, but everyone in the room was talking loudly over each other, and I screamed at them all, telling them to shut the gently caress up, and asking if they could hear me now.

Apparently people in the room next door heard me. They didn't complain about my voice level again. They still get way too close to my personal space, and I think I made one dude, who was coughing without covering his mouth, mad, when I refused to take his raffle tickets and instead had him use hand sanitizer first.

I think if we ever had a zombie problem the best thing to do would be to slowly integrate them back into society. I mean how many people do you know that you don't really like, and how many brains does a zombie need to eat in a week? Like 1 or 2. So nbd better than an uprising. Just let them "uggghhhmmmmpphhrrr" and "aaaawwwwgghhhhhhh" and whatever makes them happy because man, we are all in this together. :dukedog:

zombie movies never got the people right who believed zombies were a government conspiracy. running full tilt at them screaming I KNOW MY RIGHTS.

was going to see my dad last weekend when he mentioned off-handedly that he just had bronchitis, and his wife had it really bad right then, and he was upset when I canceled the meetup. Look, I mask, you don't, and you're loving sick.

Then a coworker told me the other day he hasn't smelled much of anything since catching Covid but he doesn't care.

sometimes I still think we should get a do-over for the past three years.

I do remember watching The Stand (the 80's/90's miniseries) and thinking hm, if Covid killed even half of what Project Blue did, think people would still have refused to mask up?
