They just kept driving into this. It was bizarre. Zero communication. They had ships in dscan range of this, a dozen of them saw me on grid, I even advertised my presence on local to see if someone would come get me.

Eventually they did come to get me. And their initial tackle was a Muninn which either didn't have tackle or forgot to use it.

the only group that seems to actively chase off harassers anymore is phorde. You can sit on bubbles like this in 4-H and in 1DQ and farm morons all day

Johnny Five-Jaces

you can absolutely cloaky camp still. you just can't leave your guy logged in all day even when you arent at the computer because you might get mobod and then probed

in the situations where you're at your computer, you either decloak and recloak every 15 minutes to refresh your cloak stabilization (with a period of vulnerability to be scanned like, 10 seconds long) or you just recloak you get pinged and decloaked by the mobo. blops hunting isnt dead, but having a cloaked alt in every system in a region that you dont actively monitor is

however, most of the time mobos are used to decloak supers that are moving because they have a much longer time between recloaking after their cloak gets turned off AND can easily be one-cycled by probes

Help I'm clueless about bombs.

Let's say I have the ability to summon about ten cruisers, including HACs and recons, into one very specific spot. I wanted to look into whether it would be worthwhile to bomb them. If Pyfa numbers are right, my conclusion is no, because it looks like one bomber does barely over 2k damage on a cruiser, so you'd need a dozen or two to do much. Am I right and bombs just aren't worth it on this scale?

Also trying to think of other funny things to do to those cruisers. A void bomb could mostly neut them out, but I'm gonna assume most of them have cap boosters.

you will not kill HACs with a bombing run. you can at most have 6-7 bombs in a single run because otherwise the ones that detonate first start blowing up the ones behind them. the number you can have in a run depends on the level of cov ops the pilots doing the run have trained

in general, having just bombers and no follow up doesn't really work on anything that isn't t1, sub-battleship hulls. they are however very powerful in doing a lot of damage to the whole fleet at once which stresses logi, and stresses logi further when every person in the fleet panics and mashes their "need shields/armor" keys, thus making it harder for logi to rep the actual primary of the fleet you ideally have shooting at them

void bombs can be good because most pvp fits arent cap stable. cruisers are hard to hit, but theyre used to great effect on, for example, nightmare fleets

Libluini posted:

Couldn't you get around this by staggering your bomber squads with some good timing? Send in a bombing run of 7x bombers first, and then send the second one in time to launch bombs, so the first wave is already safely exploded 1–2 seconds before the next wave hits, and so on.

you can, but that requires enough bomber pilots for multiple waves, plus enough pilots doing something that keeps the enemy engaged and on the grid long enough for you to line up the other run(s). i get the sense from elukka's post that they're running a relatively small operation with a few folks havin fun as opposed to having bloc-level fleet numbers at their disposal

Johnny Five-Jaces
Jan 21, 2009

i have a spreadsheet somewhere for when you should launch bombs based on the warp speed of the ship and when they show up on your dscan at a particular range

What the gently caress was going on there. The combat report is bizarre.

A tackle rorq, 8 dead blops... just what the gently caress was going on?

wyvern was running a CRAB beacon. gon dropped the tackle rorq to uh... tackle it, then dropped a cyno inhib to stop the majority of the well-organized phorde standing fleet from dropping on them. phorde used tanked, uncloaked armor blops (a common bloc-level defense fleet nowadays) to jump in under the cyno inhib because covert cynos can still be lit and fed a bunch before killing the gon cyno beacon and getting in some apostles at which point gon left

just like goons used to do in delve, the idea of having an umbrella is that you respond to every threat with overwhelming force so people are disincentivized to roam your space

2.) The stupid soloist option: Spend a week scouting out a cyno route through low traffic systems, pre-establish safe spots and try to get in to system and to the safe with a loving industrial capital ship, in hostile space, when no-one is in system.
Pros: ???
Cons: I will lose the Rorqual

moving caps is trivial these days if you have multiple accounts. you're probably only a few jumps from either npc null sec or low sec where you can dock the thing. all you have to do is get a cyno into the target system, jump, then warp off your rorq and cloak it in space. to do this, you want the following modules on your rorq:

1) a cloak
2) a 500mn MWD that you pulse once then click warp - once the mwd cycle ends you will enter warp instantly
3) a warp core stabilizer just in case
4) one i-stab to guarantee one cycle mwd warp
5) some hyperspatial accelerators so you get out of warp faster, giving an enterprising combat scanner less time to get you

you may have to run those mods plus a mobile depot out to your rorq in space but once they're fit it's piss easy to move safely, especially with how dead most null sec systems
are

Btw, one thing I didn't understand, so the trigs own Niarja now? And Niarja basically went off the maps, you can't even use it as desto. So now going from Jita to Amarr it's either a 45 jump trip or an 11 jumps one but passing though a single lowsec syste. Basically north and south are severed completely now except for JF.
