On Jan 6th I was out for a morning walk in my neighborhood, when I noticed four boomers in a rental car driving around in circles. Eventually they pulled over and panickedly asked me where the metro station was because they needed to take a train into the city. Apparently they thought that a random office building in my neighborhood with the word metro in the name was the actual station, and they tried to enter it but the doors were locked. I gave them directions and as they were driving away I noticed that one of the dudes in the back had a MAGA hat on. I had no idea at the time, but I guess that I inadvertently added four more morons to the riot.

If those documents were declassified with a formal executive order then they would have been available to the public, and wouldn’t have been a prestige piece to pull out at Mar-a-Lago cheeseburger and diet-coke dinners.

Like they’re not wrong in the larger sense, but the Atlantic is just like every other Neoliberal publication in that they have nothing to actually offer up as an alternative to Trump other than the status-quo and some sanctimonious drivel, it’s like they’re writing an episode of The West Wing. They can’t connect the dots and admit that the Dems abandoning working people decades ago is a huge reason why we’re in this mess, let alone offer up any vision for the future. The rottenness and alienation of our hyper-capitalist society is what drives people to grifters like Trump.
