Chapter DOOF

Welcome to the 2023 start/sit advice thread.

To get the best suggestions please include
-Your league's scoring/settings.
-What slots need to be filled.
-What opposing teams they face.

Your thoughts on who you'd pick is also helpful.

For instance, need a flex, .5PPR:
Lockett vLAR
McKinnon vDET

Lockett should be solid but with a Kelceless Chiefs McKinnon could be intriguing? :thunk:

Of the two, Lockett seems a safer bet, it means you don't have to do the "which Chief is the chief Chief" dance.

So now I'm doing the same dance, though.
Rank these WR options:

Lockett v LAR
DJ Moore v GB
Brandon Cooks @NYG
Skyy Moore v DET

Don't know much, if anything, about the NFL--just what I read in fantasy articles.

.5 PPR, flex league:

I have Kelce (Detroit), Darren Waller (Dallas), and Rachaad White (@Minnesota). Normal lineup is Kelce at TE and White at Flex.

If Kelce is out, I put Waller in at TE, no-brainer.

However, if Kelce is healthy plays, should I put Waller in at the flex over White? Read an article this morning suggesting Waller may blow up this season with his trade to the Giants. Projected score has White scoring more than Waller. FWIW my other starting backs are James Conner (@Washington) and Alexander Mattison (TB). Their projected scores are higher than White's, hence them being the starting RBs.

This is between Lockett and DJM and I think its a tossup. If it were me I would lean Lockett since we know he has produced in that offense and the LAR D isnt as good as it used to be. But I would completely understand wanting to take a shot on DJM being Fields' favorite target.

That leads to my own question. TE Premium PPR (TEP):
Cole Kmet vs GB
Juwan Johnson vs TEN
Jake Fergusen @ NYG

It would be pretty rare for me to flex a TE over a starting RB. I would start White.

Hey people, if your league gives any points for catching the football, start the guy who was RB5 weeks 10-17 last year and RB2 in December when the Chiefs had big injuries.

Mahomes knows he needs to lean on JMC and the Chiefs have a BIG INJURY

I think Waddle will be playing but keep an eye on it obviously

For my own question: if Kelce can't go which of these waiver dipshits should I grab. They're all terrible I am not sure it matters. 0.5 PPR

Greg Dulcich vs LV
Hunter Henry vs PHI
Dawson Knox @ NYJ
Cade Otton @ MIN
Luke Musgrave @ CHI
Noah Gray vs DET

I assume people will say Dulcich but I am pretty spooked by Payton acquiring Adam Trautman from his old Saints days and instantly listing him as the TE1 on the depth chart over Greg D. Not having to deal with this poo poo every week is why I drafted Kelce in the first place :argh:

Need to pick 3 out of this bunch in .5 PPR

Christian Watson @CHI (hurt, don't know if he's gonna play)
Mike Evans @MIN
Jordan Addison vTB
Juju vPHI
Skyy Moore vDET (tonight)
Bateman vHOU
Hyatt vDAL

other available WRs at the top of the list are Atwell, Doubs, Peoples Jones, Jayden Reed.

With Kelce out,

Skyy Moore or Christian Kirk at flex in a 1 ppr league? I've got Kirk started ATM but not sure how much Skyy is going to get fed now. Other options-

J Cook (rb buf)
Z Charbonnet (rb ne)

I go BRob for your previous question. Probably a bigger part of that offense than the others.

But, as you have noticed, I'm kinda illiterate today

Thinking Williams, definitely Dotson if Scary Terry is out.

Got two 0.5 PPR leagues, I’m thinking I shouldn’t start Mike Williams in either this week with my other Flex options and their matchups:

Mike Williams vs MIA
Christian Kirk vs IND

Terry McLauren vs ARI

Mike is healthy (since it's Week 1) and Chargers-Dolphins projects as the highest scoring game of the week. I'd roll him out in both.

.5 PPR, flex.

I had Darren Waller, picked up Dalton Schultz when Waller's hammy started bothering him. News today is Waller is gonna suit up and is likely (but not guaranteed) to play.

Schultz plays at noon while Waller is in the evening.

Do I play it safe with Schultz or start Waller? Seems like the possible bump in points from Waller may not be worth the possible goose egg if he doesn't play.

I like Hopkins, I think he will be a PPR machine. WAS might not need to throw much vs ARI. Also, a bad QB game is like 14, a good WR2 game is 14, I would still go with Carr.

I am not super confident in Richardson's first game passing ability or Pittman's history of this finally being his year <insert year here>. I would go with Cook since he is at least some guaranteed points.

Which TE to grab off the waiver wire with standard scoring:
Likely vs HOU
Freiermuth vs SF
Juwan Johnson vs TEN

Also, for standard scoring, which flex:
Breece Hall vs BUF - Not sure on how big of a role he will play his first game back from injury
Mike Evans @ MIN - Is he playing? I know he was grumpy about his contract.

Addison or Smith-Njigba are also available
