Predator is this inverse horror movie. None of the people being killed one after the other like in every other horror movie are incompetent or not trained or in any way not prepared. No one is dumb or foolish. And still yet one by one they are picked off.

I heard a behind the scenes story about the director wanting to keep with the idea of Dutch's squad being top draw rescue specialists and subtle and stealthy as gently caress, and explicitly not wanting to depict them as gratuitous murder gods...except the second unit didn't get the memo and shot the 'rescue' in the most Team America gently caress Yeah way imaginable so he just had to roll with it, much to his annoyance. Dunno how true it is but the idea of him seeing their footage come in and despairing is hilarious for sure.

In the lovely ripoff movie Robowar from 1988 (Predator but with a Terminator) the mercs are too low budget to have cool helicopter banter so they're on a boat instead and led by Reb Brown  Since it's a Bruno Mattei joint the first 5 minutes are an exposition dump by some evil army guys that lay out the entire conspiracy/coverup plot that was unspooled so skillfully in the original
