THE PLAN:

Gentlemen, it is with great pleasure I relay the news that we are taking the fight to enemy held territory. Once we load up in our jets, we'll verify our loadout and our steer points.

It's a heavy loadout, but those big bombs will do some damage to any infrastructure or ship we can get our eyes on.
Once we get set up, we will await a callout from Condor on 262.000 MHz when SEAD is about 15-20 minutes from Punta Arenas, get some last minute sips from the FARP fuel depot, line up as close to West as we can and get up in the air. Once we form up, we'll loiter IVO WP ALMAGRO until OLE is called, and if we can get our TPODs to look close enough we can start picking targets. Upon OLE, we'll commence towards T1 where we'll pick out any PLA ships that may be leaving, target them, and then focus on the pier and dockside equipment.

If we have enough ordnance after we're satisfied that the PLA won't be able to load so much as a rucksack on a rowboat, we can continue on to T2 and sing our second verse, same as the first. If at any point we run out of bombs, we will call Winchester to ABM and announce our intent to RTB to rearm and refuel; I recommend standard Maverick E's for the bigger warhead, tuned to your wingman's laser code, as well as more GBUs. 32s or 38s will be fine either way, we'll go with whatever seems to make sense based on the state of the ports.

At any point, if we get called off station or feel evasion is necessary, We'll focus on altitude and avoid going West through North for Egress, to preclude flying over enemy AAA that hasn't been shut down by our friends. When in doubt, head back to ALMAGRO and check with ABM for vectoring in the event of enemy air defence.

BINGO is set conservatively at 2000 lbs. I can guarantee that with that much fuel, you can make it home with all due speed, even if you don't feel like jettisoning all that expensive ordnance, all the way from Punta Arenas.

We are tasked with CAP today, although as enemy air is expected to be light and there is a flight of Tomcats already in the air for CAP, we're taking on a dual role and sporting a few of bombs as well. Our flight has suffered some combat attrition, and it's likely we will only have 2-3 planes in the air.

We are based out of Rio Turbio (WP1), and will take off on burners due to the short runway and heavier loadout. We'll then proceed through FORK (WP2), to our holding station at COLO (WP3). I've requested our WP4 be Punta Arenas to assist with reference, and for target acquisition for bombing runs.

We will stay on station at WP3 until tasked, but I will push that we be given the opportunity to drop our bombs quickly so that they can be used. If we are called to intercept, A2G ordinance will need to be jettisoned.

Good afternoon, gentlegoons. This is your recently promoted flight lead, R. Dario Banderas C., son of acclaimed and blooded FAE pilot Raúl Banderas D., who also flew the Mirage F1.


My brother's remains were recently repatriated during a POW exchange. Carlos Mirage was shot down during operations on 21 MAR, but he ejected near hostile Chinese forces. His body showed signs of severe blunt force trauma, almost certainly from beatings. They taunt my family by leaving these metal torture utensiles embeded in him. They must pay.



The Plan
Waypoints subject to whims of mission maker. Remember to reconfirm on the cockpit before takeoff or during cruise. It is a long cruise so we will have time to review coordinates. Gonna have to play it by ear, may land at SCNT to get a sip of fuel, or hit up the tankers if they are in a fortuitous place along their racetrack route. (RL events have me rushing a bit this week, sorry about that)

The Admiral wants our radar site back so we're going to clear out the bad guys and open the way for the Marines to reoccupy the mountain top. The flight to the target area will be standard fare for Ford at this point; stay below the mountain tops to avoid tipping off the enemy that we are coming. When we are several miles from the target Ford will climb above the target site to give sufficient altitude for attack runs and time to react to manpad fire. Our orders are to strike enemy units around the radar while avoiding damage to the radar itself. We will load lighter weapons than usual for this purpose, Mk-82s or MK-20s and FFAR rockets instead of our favorite Zunis.

After clearing enemy defenses from W1, should fuel permit, we will continue south to perform a recon in force at W2 and W3.

Frustrated by the performance of their HQ-7s and loss of several other tactical air defense systems, the PLA has been observed shipping legacy SA-8s and FB-6A (AN/TWQ-1 Avenger in DCS), so expect to see these air defense systems replacing some HQ-7s or appearing elsewhere in theater, such as the previously mentioned FOBs and outposts along the fjords.

JEDI SEAD

We'll be performing SEAD prior to, and during, strike operations at Punta Arenas. We will try to get in the air prior to Rattler so we can get an eyeball on the AO. Last time we had good luck with one JEDI playing bait while the other scanned just for SA-11's about 15 seconds behind. After a couple circuits like that we'll try to engage pop up SAM's. We'll RTB after HARMs Winchester. I'd prefer to hold back just north of Punta Arenas doing an offset orbit so one of us is pointing at the strike area as much as possible.

Hello! This week we will be backing up our F16 mission on SEAD and providing long-range strike support against any ships in the area and then other targets if possible.

Our loadout will be largely standoff TV guided missiles along with a pair of medium range ARMs. Full loadouts are in the mission card. (OOC - may be subject to change before flight).

Primary: Destroy any ships / port and terminal infrastructure in Punta Arenas.
Secondary: SEAD if radar threats pop up during or prevent ingress to target area.



We will be primarily interested in T1 and T2 target points around Punta Arenas and looking to disrupt any shipping ongoing directly offshore and/or shipping infrastructure in the area.


The plan:


We will take off and push to WP2 while climbing at full throttle to 6000m. Once at WP2 we will orbit to the N and await completion of the initial SEAD wave by our F16s. As soon as they are Winchester, or confirm that no other radar targets are in the area, we will move to Punta Arenas. Chevy 1-1 (me) will prosecute targets of interest at T1 (WP3) and Chevy 1-2 will do the same at T2 (WP4).

Notes:

Use the return (RTN) mode, waypoint 12 for Puerto Natales or waypoint 4 for Rio Gallegos. Bingo fuel will be at 25% capacity (~1500L iirc), Joker at 15%. Fuel capacity will be tight and extended loitering will not be possible. Remember particular nuances of the Su-25T autopilot. Lead suggests you bind "Level" and "ATT hold" AP functions as well as AP disable. Remember to disengage AP before maneuvers or else your trim will be an issue, go to "Level" AP and reset trim once level and then disengage AP if you have issues.

Report from Punta Arenas Guillotine Team, currently embedded with the Pioneros de Magallanes, a resistance group in the area.

On 17 March 2010, the team struck a meeting between PLA and PLAN leadership, eliminating a number of high rank PLAN officers and sowing discord between the ranks. Tensions between PLA and PLAN were already high and this strike nearly fully severed the working relationship between the two forces as the weight of stalls and losses in the north rippled back through the lines.

Post attack intelligence collected by the team indicates a general mass-panic among PLA, trying to make one-off deals with PLAN ship captains to get their individual units and commands out of the city.

The resistance has received training in the use of a cache of seized Chinese shoulder-mounted surface to air missiles and can be deployed in the vicinity of Punta Arenas if needed. [i]Up to Vaha how he wants to arbitrate that.[/b]

Due to the high impact nature of the teams recent activities, they are planning to lay low and provide training and intel support to the resistance but within a few days will be ready for specific tasking from command.

Lastly, if the SAM bubble around the city can be suppressed, drops of medical supplies to refugees in the area would greatly bolster the morale of the people of Punta Arenas.

ATSB - AIRCRAFT INCIDENT / ACCIDENT REPORT:

Trip report: Apparently the Australian Air Force pilots assigned to transport munitions in and out of the conflict area got it into their heads to disobey orders and get in one more transportation flight before they had to return to Sydney. They had been socializing with the many tourist refugees who have clogged the airports of southern Chile and Argentina in an attempt to flee the zone, and decided that they had a moral obligation to fly them out if they could. When the pilots heard that Brazilian Air Force authorities had assembled a critical cargo mission for a SABER M60 Early Warning Radar system, they knew it was their chance to act. The pilots allowed 183 souls to board with their belongings in El Calafate, Argentina (SAWC) enroute to Sao Paulo, Brazil (SBGR). The initial leg out proceeded without incident, and the flight landed in Săo Paulo for refueling and cargo embarkation. That's allegedly when things went wrong…



Preliminary cause:

The pilots were somewhat unhelpful when speaking with the investigatory authorities here in Australia, but interviews with civilian witnesses indicate that the pair spent time socializing with the tourist refugees who they had saved. Apparently an unidentified acquaintance had presented them with a gift of loose-leaf tea for their unauthorized good deeds - as well as profuse thanks from the crowd. The pilots admitted drinking the tea during the loading procedures, and noted that it had a particularly strong and refreshing taste. Australian TGA experts tested the tea after this incident, and have confirmed that it was in fact Ayahuasca. Details from here on are hazy. Flight records indicate that the flight was planned appropriately with an estimated 3,700 km / 2,000 nmi duration:



However, the pilots began experiencing visual and audio abnormalities during and after takeoff. This is consistent with the effect of plant-based psychedelics that affect all the senses, altering a person’s thinking, sense of time and emotions. The Australian Poisons Standard lists N,N-DIMETHYLTRYPTAMINE (an active ingredient in ayahuasca) as a Schedule 9 substance, making it illegal to sell, import, produce. and possess. However, the drug is commonly distributed in many parts of South America and is associated with a wide variety of Amazonian rituals and therapeutics. It is a decoction (concentrated liquid) made by prolonged heating or boiling of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine with the leaves of the Psychotria viridis shrub, although there can be a variety of other plants included in the decoction for different traditional purposes. The active chemical in ayahuasca is DMT (dimethyltryptamine). It also contains monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). They can cause a person to hallucinate—seeing or hearing things that do not exist or are distorted:



After approximately 420 km / 227 nmi in flight, the pilots allege losing control of the aircraft and reporting an emergency to air traffic controllers. No such report was recorded, and ATC personnel insist that they had no contact with the Australian flight, but recent system overhauls related to the war have caused many pilots to report radio failures and loss of communication capability aboard their aircrafts. Additionally, the onboard black box recorders report no conversations in the cockpit - only a strange and consistent buzzing sound. Forensic technicians believe the drone noise to be related to an electrical feedback malfunction that may explain the black box discrepancies.



There was no indication where this out of control flight occurred, and the pilot flying the C-17 apparently recovered control and proceeded several hundred kilometers along their route. This is only known because civilian pilots flying for Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes reported erratic air behavior by what appeared to be a C-17 flying loops around the city of Comodoro Rivadavia. One pilot described the flight pattern as resembling "weird attempted bombing runs, only without any bombs" that were conducted in the vicinity of the British HMS Invincible carrier, which was embarrassingly grounded due to navigational error several weeks ago and only recently refloated.



Investigation results:

The C-17 Globemaster III in question was found at a commercial airstrip north of Puerto Natales known as Cerro Castillo Airport. The aircraft appeared to be largely unharmed, despite the fact that the runway in question was only 896 m long with a grass surface. The pilots were found asleep at their stations, with hardly any memory of what had occurred. New pilots were flown in to take command of the aircraft, return it to El Calafate, and ultimately ferry it back to Sydney Airport, Australia (YSSY) with the errant pilots seated firmly in the rear. With the pilots generally cooperating with investigatory authorities, the AAF commander has indicated that it appears to have been an honest mistake with a happy ending, and no charges will be filed.

In the cargo bay, ATSB investigators discovered a printing press and tens of thousands of unpublished copies of El Magelańo dated February 28th, 2010. The publisher of the well-regarded newspaper has been missing since March, and their role in this scandal remains unclear. The extra weight of all this newsprint and machinery may explain the flight abnormalities and the failure of the auto-pilot system. This strangely-unpublished edition featured interviews detailing the heroic exploits of a group of A-4 Skyhawk pilots from the 3rd Fighter Bomber Squadron. Their identities were concealed per wartime policy so they went by callsigns: Nabo, Solo, Dolphin, Ace, Bandit, Vogue, Dutch, Killer, Lucky, Jack and their squadron leader Triton. The details of these findings have been turned over to Argentina’s Naval Intelligence Service for further investigation. Officials want to contact these pilots in the hopes that one of them can establish the whereabouts of the missing journalist. Tipsters should contact SACA with any information regarding the true identities of these pilots.

Mission was a success.

Both harbors, T1 and T2, were rendered inoperable. The combined effort of our air forces managed to basically grind the PLA evacuation to a halt.

It came with a high cost.

Losses:

1x F-18
2x AV-8
6x A-4
2x Su-25T
1x F-5


This is one of the bloodiest days for our air forces so far. Lot of these air frames are almost irreplaceable.

Main difficulty was penetration of the PLA ground based AA, with multiple SA-11, SA-8, HQ-7, and MANPADS protecting Punta Arenas. In addition the frigates criss crossing in the Strait knocked out several planes. Rattler 1-1 was meant to serve as AFAC but died due to trying to lure a SAM to fire. The SAM waited until I was closer, then killed me.

I should have been more careful. Luckily Rattler 1-2 was able to lase targets for Springfield’s GBUs, and with Chevy and other flights attacking the ports, at least 9 cargo ships were directly sunk into the harbors, preventing any efficient use of them.

In addition two Air Defence Corvettes were attacked and damaged.


In AO Dart, The Argentine Navy skyhawks have neutralized the radar station, and destroyed the remaining OPs.

As per intel, we know the PLA uses three large radar systems, so 2/3 remain


I estimate that the PLA will not be able conduct any more withdrawals from the city.



As a side note, two PLAAF cargo planes took off from Punta Arenas, and managed to escape wit h VIPs on board. Our intercepts failed.

Sometime after midnight, a ragged and soaked LT Dicks arrives at the FARP with Snapshot in tow.

Enfield 1-1 AAR

BLUF:
Some ordnance on target, but a late turnaround call led to the loss of two airframes. No pilots lost.

The Flight:

Upon loading up in our aircraft, we made our preliminary checks and swapped some equipment around. I went with two 1000 lb JDAMs and six 500 lb JDAMs, the rest of my flight took a mix of 500 pounders and Mavericks.

I had some trouble with my nav, turns out you can't change waypoints while your nav is aligning. After I put it in it's proper mode, all waypoints read correctly. Good job Jerik helping Snapshot with his waypoints while I mucked around.

On MATADOR, Enfield topped off and took off, NSTR.

~5nmi out from WP1 Almagro, Buzzard called OLE and called for all flights to head in to engage. Enfield flew over Almagro and banked right, coming in line with Punta Arenas and picked our targets. We were spoiled for choice, and we parceled some ships out between us when Snapshot called missile launches from the water. He was hit, lost engines and hydraulics, but safely ejected with his small handheld radio which he used to help point us in the right direction as he 'chuted down.

Stiff upper lip, and all that, we continued towards target area when Jerik and I were locked up by various systems, and we broke off our attack to return to Almagro. Shortly thereafter, a Naval SA-10 hit my plane and, as with Snapshot, I lost engines and hydraulics. I grabbed my handheld and ejected, radioing Jerik to call Naval SAMs to Buzzard.

I've since been debriefed that Jerik got a good hit on a FFL, and damaged a pier contributing to the overall mission success. Once I find some dry socks, I owe him a drink.

The Good:
We had some good callouts within Enfield, and no losses of our pilots. Minus what I'll chock up to a bad LMav, must've been American made, good weapons employment by Jerik and a good landing back at camp.

The Lessons:
It's always a hard pill to swallow, losing two good airframes. While we approached our hold point, we should have scanned the path to the target, and we would have seen those FFGs waiting in the water. If we'd have done that, we could have employed Snapshot and Jerik's LMavs against them earlier, perhaps taking them out of the fight. Knowing they were there, we could have flown further West and tried to keep out of their range for our attack runs. And, on the first missile launch, I should have called to return to hold to regroup rather than wait to get locked up further into the hornet's nest.

It sounds like SEAD had a devil of a time, so I don't hold it against Buzzard for calling OLE early. I should have been quicker to take his advice to regroup at hold point after I called in the loss of Snapshot's jet. But, these lessons are the hard ones we learn.

Flight: Uzi - 1x F-5E3
Task: Conduct GBU-12 BAI strikes IVO Punta Arenas, with Rattler providing laser designation.
Result: Shot down, pilot dead, no ordnance dropped.


What went well:
-Initial fuel plan and synch with Rattler to ensure we both had overlapping time on station went well
-When Rattler had a mechanical issue and had to sortie two new aircraft (IRL Rattler players had to reconnect to the game), was able to quickly RTB, burn off enough fuel, and make a very heavy, asymmetric landing on a short strip, because I was too proud to jettison my bombs. Refueled and re-sortied.
-Comms with Rattler were good throughout transit and orbit, until SA-11s at Punta Arenas were suppressed or destroyed and the SA-10 track radar was silenced. Had good visual on target area and plan to approach and minimize chance that any bombs failing to grab laser would land unguided into civilian areas.

What went poorly:
-Lost my designated designator / FAC(A) when Rattler 1-1 announced his intention to bait enemy SAMs, and Rattler 1-2 was familiar with the actuation of the laser designator, but not the specific targets Rattler 1-1 had in mind. I'm not being too mean when I say that both in pre-brief and immediately before Rattler 1-1's decision, another mission member and I voiced our concern that he was a single point of failure and that his loss would have serious ramifications, so it was important for him to not die. Also, we had 3x F-14s with TALDs (air-launched decoys to bait SAMs), but instead of using any of these decoys, we were using manned aircraft to wake up SAMs and give them enticing targets.
-War is hell. Unlocated / Untargeted SA-11 suddenly woke up and killed me while I was inbound to drop. Range at time of engagement was less than 6 NM, with a heavy F-5E at 26,000 feet. RIP; there's no good way out of that one. To add to the confusion, seconds before the launch warning, I was buddy-spiked by an F-14. So my reaction was pretty poor between being in a bad position plus the combination of F-14 hard locking me, then missile launch warning, then switching RWR modes (a thing you have to do in the F-5E, so bind it!) and realizing that the F-14 did not fire, but an SA-11.

Put this in the dictionary as "No Escape Zone."


Still, flying this with a goofy loadout and making a very heavy landing with it when I had to resortie was fun after having to miss fixed-wing ops for the last several weeks.

Took off from El Calafate and climbed to cruise altitude. We discussed the SA-10 situation on ingress and decided to deal with immediate threats and then worry about the SA-10 if it woke. (Morgan Freeman voice, "It did.") Once at COLO Rad dropped back a bit and I went in towards Punta Arenas. An SA-11 awoke when I was about 45nm out. I rode it in to 35nm and launched before breaking right. Rad had a second SA-11 light up that he launched on as well. We both had good effect on targets.

We reset, followed a similar path, and both launched on additional targets. Things got a bit murky as to effect at this point. We called Buzzard and relayed SEAD status. I made the call to RTB and then was diverted to Puerto Natales for reload and refuel. Unfortunately the TACAN was not live so we called Buzzard for a call in to PN. I landed rough with some lag and had to start a repair cycle. Then I smelt burning electronics and realized my headset had died after Rad said all I was transmitting was static.

A quick hot swap of the headset had me back in comms. We took off and then MILLER TIME was called. Rad led the way to El Calafate and both airframes touched down with expending the re-arm HARM's.

What Went Well
The initial run in was pretty smooth with both of us acquiring and firing quickly.
Rad was great to fly with and in hindsight should have been the Wing Lead.

What Didn't
I should have had us go up with 4 HARM's each.
I should have had us on different vectors to prevent the "behind the wall" SA-11 placement. Though terrain will also prove a challenge.
We had no TACAN at El Calafate or Puerto Natales, though we did have ILS at El Calafate.
I should have coordinated a TALD launch to better identify SAM sites and coordinate HARM strikes.

This was my first mission flight since like January(?) and I was definitely creaky. A few times I was task saturated trying to get back in the groove. Having a solid wingmate put me in a better place and I'm glad to have flown with Rad. The headset loss is lovely as it is like 2 months old but luckily the corded one was still functional.

Heard you guys saying this on the radio. I had the Puerto Natales TACAN functioning in the F-5 throughout. Doesn't necessarily mean it was user error; TACANs have been doing weird things. But it was at minimum working for some aircraft.

Keeping it brief as we don't have much to report after last night's action.

We started as a two-ship set up for CAP, as after planning we realised that the M2K has an avionics limitation that doesn't allow it to carry fox1 missiles alongside ground ordinance.

During startup, Pontiac 1-2 suffered debilitating technical difficulties which prevented her from joining the flight, and so it ended up being a solo mission. I went on CAP, and it was otherwise uneventful except a vector onto what was believed to be a PLA VIP departing from Punta Arenas. Unfortunately his direction of travelling natural notched on my radar, and so struggled to get a radar lock before being targeted and fired upoon by the naval assets offshore. I was forced evasive and back North, by which time the VIP had snuck off like a rat.

Stayed on station, a brief refuel and back, then back to base for a Miller. No enemy air assets engaged, the skies were quiet.

Definitely my decision as Rattler 1-1 to both be single AFAC for the AO and to engage in wild weaseling was close to being a fatal mistake.

It was fatal for me, but luckily other flights were able to still achieve the overall task and thus disaster was avoided.

Anticipated PLA Counterattack Assessment: HIGH

Approach and landing into Punta Indio Naval Air Base was fairly easy, though there was too much speed on touchdown, so there was no way to make the mid-field taxiway turnoff.


Leg 2
With an extra 25,000kg of cargo lumped into hold, we taxied out to depart, clipping a tree on the way to the runway. Turns out flying a jumbo jet into and out of an airport not meant for planes this size has its difficulties.

Due to various NOTAMS, we made sure to stay fairly close to the coastline to avoid being reached out and touched by a Chinese surface-to-air missile. Speaking of, some smoke and haze was still visible from the latest round of Chinese attacks on Rio Gallegos as we approached Piloto Civil Norberto Fernández International.



Leg 3
Leaving behind war-torn Rio Gallegos for the slightly less war-torn Teniente Julio Gallardo Airport in Puerto Natales. Due to our arrival path, we had to make a long sweeping right turn to line up for final, but it was a very picturesque approach nonetheless!

Although I understand some of our soldiers will want to let out some of their anger on the recent glut of PLA POW's, I want to make this clear to every grunt on the ground, every frontline NCO, and all officers in leadership. Mistreatment of prisoners will not be tolerated. Any soldier who is found to have mistreated captured PLA personnel will face the harshest penalties under military and/or civilian law. The prisoners will be provided adequate food and shelter from the elements, they will not be posed with for humiliating pictures, and they will not be subjected to abuse or neglect of their human dignity.

Wounded PLA personnel will be triaged and treated in our medical facilities under guard. Triage priorities will favour CSAD personnel for injuries of equivalent severity, but otherwise will be treated and prioritized in a humane manner. The medical facilities in Rio Gallegos are located in the EA 25th Regiment's base in the center of town, and several barrack blocks in this area will be secured to house the healthy POW's, and one block will be designated for the PLA troops receiving ongoing medical care.

Once the logistics for their care and placement have been settled, we will have appropriate translators, intelligence personnel, and other staff debrief the POW's to identify their country of origin and other identifying information. If any offer up valuable information willingly, we will take note of it but illegal interrogations will not be tolerated.

We will have two high priority civilian flights posted soon, pending the completion of repairs at SAWG. One will be to evacuate those who require more intensive care than our medical facilities can provide, and the other will be to fly extra medical supplies in from Brazil.

The liaisons stick to the line that CSAD makes their own decisions, though you overhear debate about whether it would have been better to have a meatgrinder at PA, even though it would've been hell for the civilians and certainly resulted in serious difficulties and casualties for CSAD ground forces. On the other hand, there's worry that a fortified TdF poses a potentially longer term problem for shipping.

With the pause in hostilities and the loss of 1x F/A-18 from the Devils, USSOUTHCOM rushes to accept receipt of the rest of the squadron, bringing the F/A-18 count up to 11 out of 12 in the squadron deployed.
Additional supplies delivered:
12x TALDs
8x Harpoons
20x HARMs
The rest of the basic stuff like GBUs, Mavericks, etc, can be considered essentially unlimited.
Dedicated Avenger Platoon and some force protection (collocated or on approach avenue to the F/A-18 base, not free to be deployed wherever or used offensively)

Actual repair forces like engineers are in desperate need for US operations elsewhere, but they offer up advisors experienced in rapid airfield repair to give assessments on fixing up Rio Gallegos and/or Punta Arenas (once the Chinese forces are gone). Gallegos has been damaged by some ballistic missile and cruise missiles strikes and shelling from naval gunfire, but isn't a complete mess. Punta Arenas airfield will almost certainly have deliberate damage and hazards on it by the time the PLA leave. They expect there will be landmines, disabled vehicles on runways, torched buildings, deeply cratered runways via combat engineers, etc.

US forces observe the ceasefire in South America, but retain the right to engage in unrestricted warfare west of the continent and 80+ NM east of Malvinas.

US refuses to state whether or not the PLAN carrier group is off limits, given that it is an expeditionary threat and could move to other AOs at will.

Minutes after the ceasefire start - 28 March 2010

Camaradas, I praise once more the success of your efforts.
Our latest operation on Punta Arenas brought the Chinese forces to the negotiation table for a ceasefire.
After consulting with the officers, we refused their proposal and instead we gave them two weeks to evacuate their troops from Punta Arenas, Isla Dawson and elsewhere in the mainland.

We achieved one of our main objectives, thanks to you all. Punta Arenas has been liberated.
Not without much sacrifice. It was a fierce and costly battle.

It's time to rebuild that city. More than ever, we need to bring lots of supplies.
Our ground forces will be overseeing the evacuation. We'll be sending medics and an observer party to Punta Arenas in the coming hours.
As soon as they get there, I want a report about the situation in that town. How the civilians are doing and what they need, damage on infrastructure, and so on.
The Navy must stay vigilant, especially on the PLA's shipping routes.

In the meantime, we have to prepare for what's coming after these two weeks, which will pass in the blink of an eye.
The PLA will obviously reinforce and consolidate their foothold in Tierra del Fuego even more. We also must reinforce on our side, especially Punta Arenas and Punta Delgada (close to the ferry to TdF). Put the seized Chinese equipment by our special forces into good use.
Isla Dawson has also been liberated. Let's get some radar surveillance on that island at once.

It has come to my attention some of the supplies that we should be receiving has been redirected to Callao without my consent.
Our forces in the Southern AO are in need of supplies more than ever to reinforce and rebuild two major cities heavily damaged by the conflict. It's unacceptable to have any action against our efforts coming especially from our side. I guess I should remind you that the enemy is in Tierra del Fuego, not goddamn Callao or goddamn Lima! I demand an explanation on such a decision that reeks of sabotage at once!

Repair Apaches

It was a dismal morning at RAF Middenhall when the large box of Apache screws were loaded onto the chartered Airbus. This was going to be a long-long-long-haul flight, non-stop from the East Midlands to the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. Dubbed operation brown faun the most important thing to take with you was the Times Bumper Book of Crosswords, we were going to be in the air a long time.

Taking off and reaching FL330 the skies cleared quickly and there were many hours of blue, blue ocean, blue sky, blue.

On approaching Buenos Aires, the smog over the city was intense and the sun did nothing to help visibility, only highlighting the dirty particulate that hung in the air over Argentina's capital. A fairly short landing and it was time to rest and recuperate as the cargo was handed over the local freight haulage company that was taking the Apache parts on their final leg.

Waiting for the smog to clear slightly the pallets were loaded into the back of the Transall plane before it headed further South over the flat of [planes south of Buenos Aires and then further skimming the coast until General Enrique Mosconi International Airport hove into view.

They'd taken a long time getting there but these Apache parts were ready to contribute to the war effort.

The ceasefire is coming to an end, camaradas. Time to get back to business.
It's high time we start to open some room for an amphibious assault and get that sweet foothold in Tierra del Fuego.
Prepare to sortie on Saturday, 10 April. The ceasefire ends on that day at 0600 hours Zulu. That's 0300 hours here.

Strike their ground units in the west end of Tierra del Fuego, across the channel from Punta Arenas. Prioritize supply units and infrastructure and anti-air threats. I think it's obvious enough that we need to support our strike aircraft with CAP.

We also need recon to verify what's on the ground around here:

TENTATIVE AIR FORCE PLAN




Main task: Destroy SA-10 site and supporting elements at Porvenir Airfield


By attacking from Punta Arenas direction, we will first suppress the SA-10 site and surrounding elements, then proceed to destroy it with overwhelming force.


Elements needed:

TALD launchers (Recommend F-14)
HARM launchers (recommend F-18 and F-16)
Bomb carriers (Recommend A-4 and Mirage F1)


First, we suppress the site with repeated ARM strikes and hopefully nail radars. Then some of the F-16s will proceed to TGP targets of opportunity near the site and JDAM them. After we reasonably believe that most long and mid range SAMs are destroyed, the Mirages and Skyhawks will fly in and bomb every frigging thing that exists near the site with a high number of bombs and rockets.

We will need CAP during this time.



SUPPORT NEEDED:

Request Royal Air Force RC-135 flight or Argentine Navy RC-12 to perform a scan of the shaded orange area to get final approximate location of the SA-10 site six hours before operation start.

Observation of Ceasefire, Humanitarian Aid, and Liberation of Punta Arenas

Our Chilean Sisters and Brothers who've been subjected to PLA subjugation have been freed from their jackbooted thugs at long last. The EC 5th Battle Group, who bore the brunt of the PLA assault on our liberty on this side of the front, fought valiantly against herculean odds. We all salute their valor, and we leave it to their XO and their most trusted staff to handle the observation party as the PLA withdraws.

Once the PLA clear out, the EC 5th BG's Engineering elements will immediately begin de-mining, rehabilitating basic fueling and ammunition storage assets, and evaluate the work required to bring the airport into full use again. The Infantry regiments will enter the city itself and immediately begin dispersing food, medical aid, and assess the humanitarian situation. MI will seek out and debrief the local resistance fighters who did what they could in the shadows, and identify any volunteers who would want to continue the fight against the PLA on TDF.
