Alright, listen up.

VENOM is tasked with SEAD/DEAD on three separate targets: SA-11 at Punta Arenas (SP 5), SA-11 at Porvenir (SP 6), and HB-7 at Esmeralda (SP 7).

Loadout: 2x AIM120, 2x AIM9, 2x AGM-88, 4x GBU-38, Centerline Tank

Attack Plan
  • Element 1 and Element 2 will split at IP and SEAD/DEAD the Buks at 5 and 6 simultaneously, then proceed independently to SEAD the HB-7 at 7.
  • Once Winchester, provide TARCAP until Bingo then egress.
  • Use TGP to identify SAM position and launch 1 HARM at a time in POS mode at emitting threats until the threat turns off. HAS should ideally be used only as an emergency mode.
  • Once SA-11s are suppressed, hit the launchers with JDAM
  • Once all the Buk launchers are destroyed, proceed to suppress HB-7s.

For ease of ABM coordination, the second element will be VENOM 2-1 and VENOM 2-2.

VENOM 1-1 | wonkotron
VENOM 1-2 | Bear
VENOM 2-1 | radintorov
VENOM 2-2 | Zeph

Remember:
  • Once your target is suppressed, report to CONDOR so strikers can proceed while you DEAD.
  • This is a long flight, conserve fuel and limit burner use to emergencies only.
  • Plan for a minimum of 1500 lbs fuel to egress and divert (BINGO). Plan for a minimum of 3500 lbs to egress and RTB (JOKER).
  • Fuel state between JOKER and BINGO will require either AAR or divert and refuel to RTB.

Any questions?

Excellent work today, Venom. SEAD/DEAD at Punta Arenas and Porvenir was successful. Continuing to Esmeralda was not possible. Stellar performance on emergency TARCAP with 7 confirmed kills, and kudos for dogfighting with A2G ordinance onboard and reattacking the primary mission when able. Also, we all got home safe to fight another day which is the most important result.

BDA
Degraded HQ-7 at Punta Arenas and SA-11 at Porvenir. Destroyed 7x J-7G.

VENOM 1-1 | Wonkotron
  • 2x HQ-7 LN (destroyed) [GBU-38] [Punta Arenas]

VENOM 1-2 | Bear
  • 1x HQ-7 LN (destroyed) [GBU-38] [Punta Arenas]
  • 3x airbase facilities buildings (presumed destroyed, more intel necessary to identify type of structure and extent of damage) [GBU-38] [Punta Arenas]
  • 1x J-7G (destroyed) [Guns]

VENOM 2-1 | Radintorov
  • 2x SA-11 TELAR (destroyed) [GBU-38] [Porvenir]
  • 4x J-7G (destroyed) [AIM-120C, AIM-9M]
  • 1x HQ-7 STR (destroyed) [AGM-88] [Punta Arenas]
  • 1x Ural 4320 (destroyed) [AGM-88] [Punta Arenas]
  • 2x ZBD-04A (destroyed) [GBU-38] [Porvenir]

VENOM 2-2 | Zeph1rum
  • 1x Bofors 40 (damaged) [GBU-38] [Porvenir]
  • 2x J-7G (destroyed) [AIM-120]

Lessons Learned
Mission complexity was too high and we were ill-equipped and unprepared for retasking to CAP. Despite this we were able to pivot well, but our future mission planning must adapt to what we experienced in today's overall operational failure.

Call your families, mourn your friends, and get some rest. We have to keep the pressure on.

See you tomorrow.

Excellent work today everyone.

Venom 1 and Venom 2 expedited our arrival into the CAP area to support TASMO operations. On arrival, we were vectored to intercept 2x J-11A's by CONDOR. Venom 1-1 and Venom 1-2 engaged the lead ship, and Venom 2-2 engaged the trail with AIM-120C while Venom 2-1 turned defensive. The trail was killed, and the lead was forced to turn defensive, scrubbing their R-27ER lock on Venom 2-1. Venom 2-1 chased down the remaining enemy, killing them before they could engage friendly A-4s on ingress or F-18s on egress.

After this engagement, we reset to our CAP position and provided top cover until all friendly strikers departed before RTB

Mission successful: No friendly aircraft destroyed by enemy fighters. All Venom ships returned to El Calafate.

Good afternoon General Scholz and Colonel Rivera,

I wish to bring your attention to what is in my opinion a tactical deficiency of our CAP during the actions of 21 FEB 2010, as well as open a dialogue with all interested parties to improve our planning and dynamic response to evolving situations during sorties.

An enemy J-11A was allowed to get into very close proximity to friendly strikers, and it is my opinion that we need to take action to ensure this situation does not happen again.

After reviewing flight telemetry, I believe that the conditions for the enemy fighter to be in a position to engage Jury/Gary/Ford began very early in the sortie, and were only exacerbated by the necessary decision for TASMO to engage the enemy fleet before CAP was established. Note that green lines indicate approximate attack vectors of TASMO flights, while blue lines indicate approximate ingress vectors of CAP.

The result of these CAP ingress vectors was that TARCAP (Pontiac) was ~60 NM south, and BARCAP (Venom) was ~30 NM south of the nearest TASMO aircraft at a critical moment. When Venom engaged 2x J-11A, it was severely out of position because the enemy was to the northeast, and closer to our TASMO than we were. As such, we could not effectively counter the faster accelerating enemy should the initial engagement be any less than decisive. Unfortunately the least desirable outcome occurred: two AIM-120C failed to connect with the lead J-11A, and it went defensive to the north and dove on the strikers. It is incredible fortune that no friendlies were shot down before it could be destroyed.

The blue line through BARCAP indicates the intercept vector given by CONCORD. The purple line indicates a more ideal attack vector that could have been achieved by Venom or Pontiac if CAP vectored directly toward the fleet during ingress.

I take full responsibility for the situational awareness degration of Venom during the sortie. The yellow line is what Venom should have done given the tactical reality at the time intercept was initiated (~100 NM from enemy): Flank the J-11s and position closer to the strikers while the enemy closes to within our engagement range (<40 NM), and only then turn to engage with one element, while the other continues the flank. I recall observing friendlies on datalink, so I should have recommended the above approach to CONCORD.

I welcome any proposals to refine Venom's CAP planning for future sorties.

Thank you for your time,
Comandante de escuadrilla (N.o 3, I) Castillo

Good afternoon, welcome to the briefing for Operation Daniela's Fury.

On 23 FEB we will attack the entirety of the 4th Motorized Infantry Brigade which is advancing on the west flank of AO BOLT.

Responsibilities
BARCAP

SU-24's launching cruise missiles are expected to approach from the east-southeast. If possible, kill them before they launch.
Aggressively destroy all enemy fighters but take care not to extend too far south. How far that is will be the flight lead's discretion.
Focus on fixed wing threats until strikers are RTB.

Assignments
Pontiac 1 - East Flank
Venom 1 - Center
Pontiac 2 - West Flank

Everyone Else

SEAD - Wild Weasel
Venom 2 - Suppress all SA-11 sites and verify at a minimum that the SA-11 with 9th ADA BN 4th BDE is inactive.

DEAD
Panther 1
Once SEAD verifies target is suppressed, destroy threats at 9th ADA BN 4th BDE (Strelas, HQ-7, SA-11 launchers, etc.)
Secondary responsibility: TARCAP northwest of 4th BDE once A2G is expended.

Panther 2 Debrief
Task 1
Successfully located 2-3 ADA BN's HQ-7 company. Unable to locate SA-11 before I needed to proceed. Relayed HQ-7 coordinates to MLRS. Resulting enemy equipment destroyed:
  • 2x HQ-7 LN
  • 3x Ural-4320

Task 2/3
Interrupted by continuing threat from 9-4 ADA BN SA-11 company. Attempted to Wild Weasel and took fire from one missile and successfully defeated it. Continued harassing the SA-11 and attempting to locate it from dissipating smoke trails. Unable to locate, but satisfied that it was not firing despite emitting, I proceeded to search for my targets. Located 4th BDE HQ and 10-4 SPT BN, then attacked with 3x GBU-38. Re-attacked twice, first with remaining GBU-38 and last with 2x GBU-12. Unable to get the LGBs off the rails at such a short distance and running low on fuel, I decided to drop unguided via CCIP and RTB. Evaded significant AAA fire, no damage to aircraft. Resulting enemy equipment destroyed at site between myself and Panthers 1-2 and 1-3:
  • "Sandbox" Structure
  • "Outpost" Structure (final damage received by Panther 1-3 "BurntCornMuffin" AGM-65H)
  • 5x ZIL-131
  • 3x ZIL-135 (1x destroyed by Panther 1-2 "Rowen" AGM-65H)
  • (damaged) Bofors 40

Alright, listen up.

Ground crews are loading your aircraft for CAP now. Intelligence suggests a major air attack is coming soon. Prepare to launch immediately after this briefing ends.

We will be executing DCA ACTION PLAN - BRAZO RICO. It is as follows:

=============================================================
=============================================================
=============================================================
DCA Action Plan (CODEWORD: BRAZO RICO)
This is a generalized plan for emergency DCA operations.

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE
  • Aircraft on station set up CAP at nearest PRIORITY DEFENSE AREA and defend your position until directed to do otherwise by ABM. Engage at flight lead's discretion.
  • Launching aircraft proceed to assigned AO and contact ABM
  • Relieving aircraft proceed to nearest AO and contact ABM

PRIORITY DEFENSE AREA (PDA)
Priority defense areas are where we want to establish minimum fighter coverage as reinforcements begin to launch and our air superiority radius increases. Aircraft rotating out for ream/refuel are to proceed to the nearest suitable friendly airfield.

PDA areas are as follows:
  1. CNS Aspirante Isaza
  2. 11th BDE
  3. Puerto Natales, Rio Turbio
  4. Rio Gallegos

OPERATIONAL AREAS AND OBJECTIVES
Operational areas and the objectives within those areas are detailed below:
  1. SOUTH CAP - PDA 1 | AO DART
  2. WEST CAP - PDA 2,3 | AO BOLT
  3. EAST CAP - PDA 2,4 | AO ARROW

:siren: Operations in each AO are coordinated by an ABM on their own UHF frequency
:siren: ABMs are responsible for transferring aircraft between one another to achieve balanced defense across all AOs.
:siren: SOUTH CAP AIRCRAFT: When RTB, establish contact with WEST CAP before proceeding north to avoid fratricide. Be aware of WEST CAP aircraft if engaging near the north west corner of the MAXIMUM RISK BOUNDARY.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
  • VISUAL IDENTIFICATION OR ABM DECLARE HOSTILE REQUIRED FOR ALL ENGAGEMENTS ON FRIENDLY SIDE OF MAXIMUM RISK BOUNDARY
  • All aircraft on beyond the MAXIMUM RISK BOUNDARY are considered hostile by default.
  • Aircraft engaging enemies beyond the MAXIMUM RISK BOUNDARY carry exponentially increasing risk of enemy SAM and fratricide. Proceed with extreme caution and do so while in contact with ABM.

I am going to recommend an approximately 10 mile race track situated at the purple line.

This will position us approximately 15-20 miles away from the main package, giving them plenty of of time to evac in a GUINEA PIG or ALPACA situation, but not so far off that we couldn't respond to situations in the battle zone. It should also allow us to effectively provide a barrier against aircraft flying from the east without flying within range of known ship positions. By keeping the race track itself less than ten miles, I can stagger my flight to maximize sensor coverage without incurring too much separation.

You may have noted that our F16s are operating under new callsigns. Due to heavy losses of operational Venom airframes, on 27 FEB I enacted a Panther upgrade program. To date, 2 Venom NMC jets were downgraded and made FMC, and 4 Panther jets were upgraded as follows:

For 1 Venom:
  • Remove wiring to support 4 AIM120 capable stations (STA 2, 3, 7, 8)
  • Remove wiring to support 2 HARM capable stations (STA 4, 6)
  • Assign airframe to Jedi

For 1 Panther:
  • Update software to support AIM120, HARM, TGP, and HMCS upgrades
  • Install wiring to support 2 HARM capable stations (STA 3, 7)
  • Assign airframe to Ninja

For 2 Panthers:
  • Update software to support AIM120, HARM, TGP, and HMCS upgrades
  • Install wiring to support 2 AIM120 capable stations (STA 1, 9)
  • Assign airframe to Rattler

All current and future stock of F16A MLU will be upgraded under this program at a maximum rate of 4 aircraft per day. Any remaining Venom jets will be reserved for future airframe upgrades or for specific mission requirements.

Former Panther FL and EL aircraft retain optional TGP capability, but do not have HMCS yet.

General orders for use of these specialized and extremely valuable airframes:
  • Assume a low risk tolerance ROE
  • Jedi is reserved for command discretionary use
  • Ninja is reserved for experienced SEAD pilots
  • Ninja shall not be used for any purpose other than SEAD
  • Rattler is not reserved, but experienced pilots are preferred
  • Rattler may be used for precision strike, but air to air missions are preferred

Very well, camaradas, let's keep on giving the PLA a hard time.

The next day of operations will be on Saturday, March 6th, at noon. Good weather and winds not too strong according to the forecast.
Support our ground forces at AO BOLT. Our forces there are under attack by PLA's 3rd BDE. Hit them as hard as possible while still being careful, we've been losing some precious airframes.
By then the ASTROS comms problem will be sorted out, hopefully, so we can have better support on their part.

We'll also have the support of a couple F-15Es. I'd like to see them dealing with their supply infrastructure on AO BOLT or ARROW.

If we can spare some of our airframes to intercept those Antonovs, then let's do it.

SUBJECT: F-16s from the temporary capital city Air Defence Squadron

The FACh has retained a separately assigned air defence squadron to protect Santiago. Out of those airplanes, the defence ministry has agreed to move several airframes to the South Atlantic AO. We will leave it up to you to select:

Option A: 4x F-16A
Option B: 2x F-16C

In return,
the FACh has requested that Peruvian MiGs would be moved north to augment the remaining F-16s for Santiago. In order to facilitate this transfer, Santiago is to be provided with x10 fully mission capable MiG-29s with modern missiles.

Your response is requested most expeditiously.

General Carlos,

The air forces in would see a significant benefit from the transfer of F-16A MLU aircraft given the ongoing Rattler/Ninja retrofit program.

We currently have two F-16A MLU in reserve, and an additional four would be an even upgrade quantity to scavenge parts from two of our reserve F-16C jets. This would yield 2x Jedi, 4x Rattler, and 2x Ninja jets to bring us to fully mission capable totals of 5x Jedi, 10x Rattler, and 5x Ninja once upgrades are complete, with 7x Venom remaining in reserve.

I encourage you to consider Option A as the preferred choice.

Let's keep the momentum now.

Next mission on Thursday, March 9. Good weather according to the forecast, but the wind is starting to get stronger at this time of the year. Beware, pilots.
We'll be focusing this time on AO ARROW for a change. The Argentine 11th Mech BDE is under attack over there and we have to hurt the enemy a bit more on the east. And we definitely don't want them crossing the strait. They're in Tierra del Fuego to taste exactly that, fuego. Hit their supply units and infrastructure and their artillery as much as possible.

As a secondary objective, although AO BOLT is not the focus this time, attack the PLAGF 4th BDE as well. The enemy on the west's not supposed to have a break either.

It is required of you to submit a memorandum of short and long term goals in a vision statement. It is to analyze your short term (1-5 in-game days) and your long term (+30 ingame days) goals and aspirations. Perhaps discuss, for your component (Navy, Air Force, Army) appropriate combat situations, what kind of missions you hope to achieve with them, etc, and most importantly, how to achieve all that (how to get to your vision).

This applies to:

General Humberto, commander of Armies
Comandante de escuadrilla Castillo, commander of Air Forces
Admiral Sampaio, commander of Navies

And, General Carlos, you will write a Area of Operations-wide memo in the same topic on broad strokes and grand goals.

It does not have to be in official memo format (though that'd be neat with the letterhead and all), it can be a neatly laid out forums post.
Why are we writing memos in the middle of the war? Because war is hell.

Ministers,

It is the recommendation of Combined Air Combat Command that there be a shift in focus in the coming week to SEAD/DEAD heavy mission planning. The tactical purpose of this shift is three fold:
  1. Secure air superiority to enable lower risk attack missions against enemy logistics
  2. Enable helicopter forces to operate in the battlespace
  3. Force the enemy to reposition air defenses away from strategic locations (e.g. Punta Arenas)

To support our operations in the long term, CACC formally requests that all efforts be made to lobby the United States State Department to export additional supplies of AGM-88 HARM missiles as well as AN/ASQ-213 HARM Targeting System (HTS) sensor pods. A single HTS sensor pod allows an F16 to observe the entire battlespace and enable other HARM capable F16s to launch the missiles in their loft attack mode. This attack mode has vastly superior range and kill probability against enemy air defense RADARs and does not require the aircraft to point directly at the threat in order to launch. Two HTS pods enables a flight of F16s to reduce response time when attacking enemy RADARs from minutes to seconds by sharing information between aircraft via datalink.

  • Without sufficient HARMs, the enemy will have an opportunity to diminish air superiority by deploying additional SA-11 batteries closer to the front lines.
  • Without HTS, the air forces must continue to place HARM capable F16s at significant risk during every mission.
  • Without HARM capable F16s, we risk our air superiority on this front.
  • Without air superiority, the front will become unsustainable.
  • With sufficient HARMs and HTS, we can secure air dominance by destroying enemy theatre wide SAM systems (i.e. S-300)

We need these items as soon as possible.

Thank you for your time,

URGENT BULLETIN TO AIR FORCE PILOTS AND COMMANDERS

It has come to my attention that our pilots in the Air Forces have started seeing our Main Supply Route highways as Alternate divert runways for them to land on due to lack of awareness of their fuel states. Pilots have landed on our very small, 2 lane highways 4 times in the last month due to low fuel states, and every time a plane lands in this fashion, the picture above taken yesterday shows what the resulting traffic backlog looks like. In fact just this last time, one of our civilian contractor heavy haul truckers nearly died when they had their fully loaded 18 wheeler run off the road when they saw an unannounced fighter jet playing a game of chicken with him on the highway. We had an EOD team tied up for hours trying to track down every artillery shell that had been thrown hundreds of meters every which way during the crash.

The time before last that this occurred, we had 11 severely wounded casualties die in field ambulances because they couldn't make it to the FARP where CASEVAC helicopters were going to bring them back to the hospital. Having our soldiers die on a stretcher because someone forgot to check their fuel gauges for half an hour is, frankly, unacceptable. Please reference the attached map of our ground Logistics network to see areas where 6-18 hour disruptions due to unplanned landings on MSR's and ASR's can not be allowed to continue. Our army is only able to hold the PLA back at the front line because fuel, food, munitions, and other types of support are running 24/7 along these highways. We Do Not have the logistical margin to have even one of these routes backlogged like this.

4 times. I leave it with the Air Force commanders to work out the appropriate planning, implementation, and verification that these disruptions do not exceed that number. I won't be able to stop my angry soldiers dragging the offending pilots out of the mess hall and working them over because their battle buddy died due to preventable gross negligence in the future.

[private communique to General Humberto]

General,

I should not need to remind you that under the CSAD command structure we are peers, despite our difference in rank.

In the future, if you have any specific comments, concerns, or complaints regarding the conduct of the personnel under my command, I request that you direct those to me personally and in private so that I may deal with the matter through my chains of command.

Your concerns are not invalid and the loss of your soldiers is tragic, but in your bulletin you totally ignore the tactical realities of the pilots in question at the time their decisions were made. You formed conclusions without taking into context that these pilots were in combat fighting for their lives, and it is unbecoming and insulting to publicly characterize their judgment as, "gross negligence."

These men and women who deliver death to the enemy contribute extremely significant strategic gains, as demonstrated by the actions on 6 and 9 MAR which have stalled or pushed back the enemy advance across the entire front. They have lost many of their friends as well. I expect that you should not need to remind your soldiers of the consequences of mutiny. I will not tolerate stupid mess hall brawls in my airbases.

It is preferable to me to focus my time on mission planning.

RE: Logistics disruptions due to emergency landings on MSRs

If you find yourself being delayed by a combat aircraft which has made an emergency landing, you have my full permission to push it out of your way. You will have the assistance and full cooperation of the pilot, who will owe each member of your unit two rounds at their airbase's officer's club. If your battalion is delayed, that's quite a lot of beer.

If combat conditions permit and sufficient personnel are available, it is my request that you push the aircraft by hand from the wings while the pilot steers from the flight controls. This method will reduce the time required to return the aircraft to service. If you are are under fire, move the aircraft by any means available to you and continue your mission. You will suffer no consequences for any damage to the aircraft. The pilot will be responsible for the full report, to include the unit they have delayed. You may find it advisable to send me a brief informal report of the occurrence so that it is brought to my immediate attention.

Thank you for your continued valor in the face of a determined enemy.

Jedi/Rattler AAR
Mission accomplished and all aircraft returned to base undamaged. Excellent work by all pilots.

Strong coordination via constant communication throughout the sortie enabled our success. Jedi effectively probed enemy air defenses along the planned route, identified a high concentration of SA-11 sites via HSD pre-planned threat steerpoints, and confirmed this concentration via RWR warnings. Jedi and Rattler flight leads adjusted the bridge strike attack plan to approach from a less defended vector. Jedi effectively suppressed two SA-11 batteries prior to and during Rattler's engagement. One SA-11 battery targeted Rattler while they were dropping bombs, but a HARM had already been fired at the launcher 36 seconds before it launched its missile. The HARM impacted 42 seconds later and the enemy missile was nowhere near its target when it self-destructed.

Jedi fired 4x AGM-88C HARM and destroyed the following units:
  • 2x SA-11 TELAR
  • 2x HQ7 launcher
  • 1x Ural-4320
  • 2x Ural-375
  • Troops near HQ7 launchers

Rattler dropped 6x GBU-31 and destroyed the two target bridges. There were no difficulties during this sortie with employing GPS guided munitions.

Tactical Notes
Jedi significantly improved reaction time to suppress threats by configuring AGM-88 HARM as Sensor mode to only scan for SA-11 TELARs in the Center scan mode during Rattler's ingress. This configuration decreased the HAS refresh time to scan for and identify an active threat from 15+ seconds to 1 second. With sufficient pilot experience, a HARM can be launched within 5 seconds of observing an SA-11 on RWR. Given that SA-11 acquisition and launch time is 20-40 seconds, this method enables ground attack aircraft to enter higher risk areas and conduct effective missions with minimal increase in risk.

SEAD Tactics
HARM Table 1:
Code - Name (Type) [RWR]
107 - Snow Drift (SA-11 Search Radar) [SD]
115 - Fire Dome (SA-11 Track Radar) [11]
127 - HQ-7 (Track Radar) [7]
128 - HQ-7 (Search and Track Radar) [HQ]

To probe for and attack SA-11 TELAR:
  1. Configure HAS to only search for [11]
  2. Establish and form up on hold point
  3. Choose a vector to probe or identify direction toward the threat
  4. Identify which aircraft will be Scout and which will be Shooter
  5. Scout initiates ingress on chosen vector
  6. Shooter follows 5-10 seconds later on the same vector
  7. When Scout is targeted by SA-11 or otherwise observes [11] on RWR, they relay direction of threat to Shooter and turn defensive and return to hold point
  8. Shooter has 5-10 seconds to identify, lock, and launch on the SA-11
  9. If shooter fails to acquire target within this timeframe, they turn defensive and return to hold point
  10. Repeat until Winchester or BINGO

SEAD Target Priority
  1. Snow Drift [SD]
  2. Fire Dome [11]
  3. HQ-7 STR [HQ]
  4. HQ-7 TR [7]

Fuel Management
Recommend dropping wing tanks before initiating combat to maintain maximum maneuverability, but the decision is at the flight lead's discretion.

On 16 MAR we will disrupt enemy capability in AO BOLT by destroying logistics concentrations. We will also be supporting Ford and Vincent in their operations in AO BOLT and engaging enemy fighters and helicopters near the front. It is imperative for our continued success that all F16s return to base undamaged.

OBJECTIVES
AO BOLT
  • Prevent airframe and pilot losses with flexible CAP and conservative attack plan
  • Suppress enemy air defenses
  • Destroy 3 BDE and 6 BDE supply areas

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Jedi 1 - SEAD/ESCORT
  • Rattler 1 - STRIKE
  • Ninja 1 - SEAD
  • Pontiac 1 - BARCAP
  • Ford 1 - See Naval orders
  • Springfield 1 - STRIKE
  • Chevy 1 - SEAD
  • Vincent 1 - See Naval orders

ATTACK PLAN
  • Pontiac establishes BARCAP (NOTE: Pilots needed)
  • Chevy suppresses HQ7s along the front line during Ninja/Jedi ingress
  • Ninja and Jedi hunt SA-11 batteries and calls OLE when confident they are suppressed, Ninja will be priority shooter while Jedi remains in reserve to SEAD escort for Rattler
  • Ninja to rearm/refuel at Puerto Natales once if required and return to station
  • Rattler locates precise 3 BDE and 6 BDE supply area coordinates while SEAD is in progress, begin attack on OLE
  • Springfield follows 10-15 seconds after Rattler and attacks 3 BDE supply area
  • Chevy follow 10-15 seconds after Rattler and attacks 6 BDE supply area

Overall mission AAR - Air Forces
Success - AO Bolt IADS and logistics capability significantly degraded

Exemplary performance by Pontiac, Chevy, Springfield, and Ninja. Despite being outnumbered and outmatched in terms of aircraft capabilities, Pontiac downed two advanced fighters. Chevy provided timely SEAD to suppress SA-11s attacking friendly jets, and destroyed many front line HQ-7 systems. This helps enable future helicopter operations against enemy maneuver elements. Springfield's effective low level direct attack on logistics areas further delays the enemy's advance through AO Bolt. Ninja's destruction of two SA-11 launchers enables airframes like A4, F1, and F5 to more safely perform low level attacks with unguided munitions.

Losses
  • 3x Mirage-2000
  • 1x F-16C
  • 1x Su-25T
  • 2x Mirage F1 (1 destroyed, 1 NMC)

Targets Destroyed
  • 1x J-11
  • 1x Su-33
  • 2x SA-11 TELAR
  • 5x HQ-7 STR
  • 2x logistics areas (rocket and bomb damage to vehicles and storage buildings)

Turn the jets around as fast as you can, enemy naval task forces and groups of landing ships with accompanying fighter escort CAP closing on Rio Gallegos.

At 0900L on 16 MAR we will attempt to interdict the nearest formation of landing ships in the vicinity of AO ARROW. BARCAP will keep enemy fighters (4x J-15, 6x J-11, ?x J-7) occupied while TASMO conducts their strikes.

OBJECTIVES
AO ARROW
  • Maintain local air superiority
  • Sink as many ships as possible in LST Group 1

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Venom 1 - BARCAP
  • Venom 2 - BARCAP
  • Rattler 1 - BARCAP
  • Pontiac 1 - BARCAP
  • Colt 1 - BARCAP
  • Ford 1 - TASMO
  • Dodge 1 - TASMO
  • Vincent 1 - BAI See Flight Plan

ATTACK PLAN
  • Venom, Rattler, Colt, Pontiac establishes CAP out of range of enemy escort ships. Maintain optimal BVR footing and choose engagements wisely, do not commit without backup, and do not continue to the merge. Where possible, support missiles by cranking away from enemy ships.
  • If Rattler shifts west-northwest to cover Venom, Pontiac shifts west to cover Colt
  • Call MATADOR when F16s are on station
  • Call OLE at Venom/Condor discretion
  • Ford and Dodge attacks LST Group 1 on OLE. Ideal timing is for Dodge's missiles to enter their terminal phase while Ford is close in with enemy ships.
  • Vincent conducts all operations at flight lead's discretion. CAP may not be available. SEAD is not available.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
  • CAP aircraft should not pursue fighters south of the barrier line see RESPONSIBILITIES

COMMAND AND CONTROL [WIP]
  • CONDOR (A2A): 261.00 MHz
  • BUZZARD (A2G): 262.00 MHz
  • VULTURE: 263.00 MHz
  • VAQUERO (JTAC): 264.00 MHz

ABM CODEWORD PLAN
  1. ALPACA → Abort Attack, TASMO returns to hold point
  2. GUINEA PIG → Abort Mission RTB (CAP winchester or 50% of F16s destroyed).
  3. MATADOR → CAP on station, proceed with TASMO ingress
  4. OLE → Air superiority maintained, commit to TASMO attack

Flight leads, please prepare your flight plans.

Good hunting,

Ignacio

Update for CSAD:

Intel:
Material Support to CSAD:
-State Department has finally approved shipment of 2x HTS for export to Chile. Once installed on those jets, no parting them out, retrofitting, etc, state wants these tracked carefully. If the airframe crashes or falls to hostile fire, you owe us the location to best of your ability. Do NOT attempt maintenance or service on the HTS without proper US government advisor or contractor conducting the task; extreme damage or danger to ground crew could result.
-Chile is approved for transfer of 4x F-16A-quality airframes, brought back to life out of the Boneyard.

Venom will receive the HTS and Panther will receive the fighters at El Calafate.

We are eternally grateful to the United States for this crucial support.

General, we await your response. Do NOT make the Ministry wait any further.

TO: Ministry of Defense, Chile
FROM: Commander, Combined Air Combat Command

CSAD forces are currently defending against the most persistent and wide spread phase of the enemy offensive. Diverting transport resources will have negative consequences for military logistics.

With this in mind, how many sorties per day are expected to transport the supplies and for what duration? What is the total quantity of supplies in tons? Are the supplies currently packaged for helicopter lift (UH-1, Mi-8), small fixed wing aircraft (OV-10), or in larger containers for larger cargo aircraft (C130)?

Please provide additional details and a map of the expected delivery areas at your earliest convenience.
