What I wouldn't give to be present for the Ohtani team meetings. I wonder how much of Arte's bizarre sense of pride in his team is keeping the Angels in the mix (read: driving the price up). Can he bear the shame of the biggest star in a century signing somewhere else?

I prefer rooting for underdogs but many teams are in that category either deliberately or through incompetence. What am I supposed to hate about the Dodgers? Ohtani, Mookie, Freeman? Competent and competitive ownership? Magic tweets? Vin Scully's legacy? Maybe the fans are bad but I live a couple states away.
