Elukka posted:Fun fact you can take the video id from the url of a short and paste it in the place of a video id in a normal video's url and then you get it in regular video format. I use a plugin. It can also block youtube shorts altogether. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-shorts-block/ It does exist for chrome too.

What OS does your TV use? Edit: long story short, If it's android based you can install smart tube beta. If it isn't, the fire tv stick 4k is currently 50% off at 24.99. https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTube scroll down for install instructions. I see no reason why you shouldn't use the easiest option. I double checked before I posted this to make sure it was still blocking ads and it is. as a bonus it also has sponsor block. How long will it work? Beats me. The Grimace posted:Thanks for the tip, I'll see if I can finangle this tomorrow too. Another tip is to install the firetv remote app to your phone. Not as snappy as the remote but the qwerty keyboard on your phone for search more than makes up for that not just in smart tube but system wide. Just remember to kill it when you are done because it seems to be a bit of a battery hog.

Saalkin posted:More deets please. by the way if you have an android based tv instead of a web os based tv you can sideload the "downloader" app and install smart tube. https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTube if you have a roku based device you can try this, https://github.com/iBicha/playlet but i personally have not. edit: i was reading the github page for the playlet app and this is from the developer: There's a cliché about how a lot of open source software is "Made with ♡". This project in particular is not. Playlet was created out of spite, because I believe I have watched enough back-to-back, unskippable YouTube ads for a lifetime. i thought that was funny. BOOTY-ADE posted:Probably been mentioned but has anyone noticed random pop-up messages on YT with Firefox/Ublock where it says something like "experiencing delays/interruptions? find out why"? I saw a couple over the weekend right during times when videos would stutter for a second, guessing this is just YT doing annoying poo poo again because they can't control other companies' browsers/products. if it is client side you could run a ping -t youtube.com in command prompt/terminal for a while to see if you are dropping packets. a speed test might be helpful. i don't know where you are but cali has been having a lot of rain and our cable junction box? is underground. sometimes it gets flooded and i have poo poo internet for a while. edit: in linux i don't think the -t in ping -t is necessary but it's been a long time.

Khanstant posted:I just go to goku.sx rn, or any site like it if one gets shut down, and they all have pretty much all the shows and you just click to watch and stream like with Netflix or whatever. I'm not even sure what site I'd use to grab a show torrent these days, just always easier to stream. The only complaint I have is one of the file hosts is kinda bad so I have to switch to another one if they're the default. I know it sounds silly but, https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/wiki/megathread/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/wiki/megathread/all_purpose/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/wiki/megathread/movies_and_tv/ Edit: Way late edit but vpn required unless you have a really sweet ISP Denim Dude fucked around with this message at 03:25 on Apr 19, 2024 |

At one point I had an account at waffles and the other big one at the same time, I don't remember the name. No matter how aggressive I set me seeding to I never managed to share anywhere close enough for a positive ratio and they made me feel like poo poo about it. And I tried drat it.

susan b buffering posted:The other big one was what.cd, I liked it a lot better because it was actually a well organized and curated library of music you can browse as opposed to the kinda flat "list of torrents you search through" thing I remember waffles being. It was such an awesome thing to find out about as a teen used to slumming it on the pirate bay.The ratio requirements were kinda tough, but a few years before its demise they changed it so that long-term seeders were still rewarded even if they didn't get much actual upload, and that's pretty much the norm now. Yes such an awesome thing to find as a teen. I was defiantly a teen when i got my membership with what.cd and etc. I was definitely not in my mid 20s. Don't tell anyone that I was in my mid 20s in like 2008.
