Post every car you've ever owned and what you loved or hated about it. 73 Ford Gran Torino dark green station wagon. Everyone called it the dragon wagon. It was horribly ugly. 79 Ford Fairmont station wagon. I inflicted so much damage to this car, I don't know how it survived five minutes. Apparently, my parents were really into station wagons ok. 83 Pontiac Sunbird worst American car ever probably. 79 Ford F100, I drank so much beer in this truck. The left rear axle once tried to yeet itself out of the differential. I had to take a route home that was all left turns so it didn't fall all the way out. 80-something Oldsmobile Cutlass, fastest car I ever owned. 80-something Oldsmobile Delta 88, worst accident I was ever involved in, it was completely my fault and I still feel horrible. 84 Buick Park Avenue, lovely car, the transmission was not so lovely. 83 Buick Regal, got me from IA to CO and back a hundred times somehow. 84 Ford Bronco II, I loved this truck and wish I still had it. 83 Ford Escort, had a large V6 and 5 speed manual transmission making an absolute rocket. I sold this car for $400 more than I listed it on Craigslist because the guy was so high we would not stop giving me money. Claimed, "I just need it to get me to the California state line one time. ONE TIME! 94 Chevy Corsica, the power steering rack fell off somehow. 98 Ford Explorer, first dealership car I ever bought, 00ish Mazda 929, this car was loaded and got totaled the second day I owned it I was so sad. (2) Mazda MPV minivans, the 4WD one Horribly ugly but indestructible, I drove both to almost 200,000 miles. 07ish Chrysler Town & Country minivan first new car we bought, the transmission literally exploded at 35,000 miles. 10 Honda Odyssey minivan unremarkable in every way 00 Ford F150, had the longest available cab and longest available bed, it was like parking a 747. I could only fill the gas tank half full because there was a hole in the top. 99 Dodge Intrepid, the person I sold this car to ended up being car number 40 into a 40 car pile up on the interstate in the fog. 14 Dodge Journey, I hate this car it’s my daughter’s now. 14 Dodge Avenger, this car had a target on it I swear, six fender benders in five years, none of them my fault. 23 Toyota Highlander, wife swears she’ll drive this until she dies. 17 Dodge 1500, my first truck. 23 Dodge 1500, current truck, I love it. 04 Chevy 2500, the rear brake drums weighed 1100# each I think. 98 Ford Mustang, not the cool one, the one that was made for grandmas. 10 Dodge Charger my son’s current car trying to get him through college fingers crossed.

1997 Toyota Corolla (SE?) - Stick shift four door. Awesome little car. Dumb bitch blew stop sign and t-boned me. Totaled. 2005 Ford Focus - Awful car across the board, bought as replacement for above. Dumb bitch rear ended me at 45+ mph while I was literally just stuck in traffic going like 5mph. Totaled, needless to say. 2010 Mazda 3 - Absolutely wonderful vehicle. Minimal maintenance required from 2011 - 2020. loving moron contractor in Ford E-350 Van blew red light WAY late and basically halved my engine compartment. Totaled. 2016 Chevy Cruz - My mom was basically never driving this car and sold it to me on the cheap when the beloved Mazda died. Honestly thing is weak as gently caress. Glad I have it but lame vehicle. Yeah 3 cars totaled by other people. They want me dead, man, and hell - the sentiment is the same. 20 Blunts fucked around with this message at 16:41 on Oct 29, 2023 |

'93 Audi 80. £300. Lasted just short of 1 year before I wrote it off in an accident (it would never have passed its MOT) '99 Vauxhal Corsa. £1,500. Had it ~6 years and never had a problem with it. Gave it up because I moved to a walkable city with good public transport and it was just sitting there barely used for 6 months. That's all the cars I've owned in my 40 years.

If someone wants to find out what I look like or where I live that's all on SA already, so they'd have an easier time stealing my identity through SA.

94 mercury cougar - it drove and handled like a boat. the ac stopped working at 60k miles, blew a head gasket at 90k miles. absolute piece of poo poo 92 mr2 turbo - one of the best cars ive ever owned. it was a ton of fun but the t tops leaked like crazy 07 bmw 335i - a good car and very fast with a tune. gave it to my mom when i got the mercedes. she sold it with 172k miles on it 08 mercedes slk55 - the v8 in it sounded great, and convertibles are the best. i also miss this car sometimes 15 mazda 3 - a good car with a much better interior than the price would suggest. a bit slow for my taste but im an idiot 12 bmw 535i - my daily driver now, even though i drove it < 1000 miles this year. i will probably sell it soon 15 ferrari california t - my dream car. convertible, fast, sounds amazing, looks amazing. maintenance is more expensive than every other car ive owned combined though

97 Ford Escort - First car I ever owned myself. Drove it from Southern Ontario to Vancouver and back just after buying it (2.5 days each way!). Fate unknown. Can't remember what I did with it. 00 Chevy Cavalier - Junk car wife and I had to get around in uni. Got rear-ended and totaled. 01 Pontiac Sunfire - Second junk car wife and I had in uni. Same color as the Cavalier, but was a 2-door instead of 4. Traded in... 05 Toyota Echo - Great car, except no AC. Amazing on gas. Looked like a clown car. Traded in... 07 Jeep Liberty - Needed more space and something better in the winter. Traded in... 69 Ford Mustang - Hardtop. 302. 3-speed. Learned to drive stick in it. Cool car, sounded nice. Fun to drive. In worse shape than I wanted. Sold it to some old guy who said a 69 coupe was the first car he and his wife bought together. 02 Jeep TJ - 4.0. 5 speed. Fun car to drive, super easy clutch. Loud as gently caress if going over 80k/mh though, even with the hard top on. Died on me when I was running something over to my wife's office. No clue what happened. Realtor bought it from me when we sold our first house. Said it took $2K or so to get it running again. 10 Toyota Rav4 - Great car overall. More reliable than the Jeep, but had more maintenance than expected. Traded in for a Sportage. 13 Kia Rio - Another tiny clown car that's great on gas. Still have it. 72 Ford Mustang - Another hardtop. 400. C5. Great torque. Still have it. 23 Kia Sportage - Traded in the Rav4 for this. First brand new car my wife and I have ever owned. Not a bad vehicle. Just boring. Still have it. Picked up a nice big crack in the windshield coming home from work a bit back I need to take care of... Bonus pictures of some of these heaps:

Oh boy! Only listing my cars, not my wife's & kids': 1981 Oldsmobile Toronado Diesel - I won this car at my HS graduation afterparty/lock-in thing. GM stuck a diesel truck engine in this lemon and called it a day. This car was such an unbelievable piece of poo poo that I gave it back 4 months later. 1973 Pontiac Bonneville - Gigantic Indestructible Detroit Iron. Basically 2 vinyl sofas on wheels. Seated 6-7 dudes comfortably with plenty of room. 8 MPG 1980 Ford Mustang - Pathetic 4 cylinder fox body during Ford's "making the shittiest cars in history" phase. 1990 Pontiac Sunbird - My first brand new car! Cost just under 10k and I don't have anything bad to say about it. 1994 (?) Pontiac Grand Prix - Bought it used when the Sunbird started disintegrating @ 150k miles. 1998 Ford Mustang Convertible - V8 to atone for my sin of having a 4 cylinder back in the day. 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix - Bought used. Piece of poo poo. 2005 Ford Mustang Convertible - Ordered before they came out. This was a radical redesign that started the moden Mustang look. Black with red interior. Loved this car! 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby Convertible - My favorite car of all time up to this point. Fast and gorgeous. However, this car had electrical issues that would randomly strand me wherever. Dealer could never figure it out. Between this and my wife's Lincoln's electrical issue, the last Ford I would ever buy. 2014 Mercedes E550 Cabrio - Gorgeous car. Almost as fast as the Shelby. 2016 Mecedes E300 Sedan - Decide to get a grown up car since I was approaching 50. 2016 Mercedes S550 Sedan - Got a great deal on this used. My current car and by FAR the nicest car I have ever driven. Goddamn, that's a lot of cars. Edit: Forgot the 1994 Pontiac Firebird that my brother-in-law and I turned into a POS endurance race car for the Lemons/ChumpCar circuit. 1988 Trans Am GTA. Looked cool. Sounded cool. Constant brake issues, transmission had to be rebuilt then broke a year later, leaky t-tops. Had a factory CD player (didn't work/replaced). Got smoked by a 1994 Civic with an exhaust kit. 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. Fully loaded. Fuel pump failed at 14k miles. Just died while driving. Factory defect. At 20k miles the knobs started falling off the AC and radio. 2002 Lincoln Continental. This loving car. When it hit ten years everything broke. Power seats, 5 disc changer, heat/AC, fuel pump replaced, rear suspension went out...had a power issue no one could figure out so I had disconnect the battery if I was parked all day. 2019 Honda Civic. Pretty good so far. AC condenser and fuel pump had to be replaced. Factory defect.

Lol @ the old heads in this thread freaking out about identity theft because your banking app asked what your first car was as one of your three security questions when you got your first iPhone ten years ago. Look, I'll make it easier for you. My parents met in the same city I was born in, my oldest cousin's name is Hitler, and my first pet's name was also Hitler. In fact, all of the answers I use for those questions? Hitler. (Which is where I was born and where my parents met.) Good luck with that information. 1985 Dodge Colt - It loving sucked so bad that I intentionally crashed it into the first oncoming vehicle I saw. 1985 Mercury Topaz - This car was actually pretty great until the engine just straight up died going up a slight incline. I can't believe I actually drove it from the prairies all the way to Shambhala down Highway 3 in 2005 when I didn't know jack poo poo about car repair if anything went wrong. 1997 Dodge Stratus - First car wherein I earned my dice in the mirror. It was actually pretty peppy and light but the battery was hidden under the passenger wheel and couldn't be replaced easily. 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 3800 N/A - First car I owned that I felt really comfortable in. Crashed it in the exact same way I crashed my first car (veering into oncoming traffic). 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix 3800 N/A - Bought it to replace the 04 because I wouldn't have to buy an entire new set of winter wheels and tires for some other make and model of car, and it would be easier to get over my mistake of crashing the last one if I had basically the same car and could trick myself into thinking I hadn't crashed the last one. Had some weird steering gremlin where the steering column would lock up sometimes and the only way to fix it would be to crank it even harder in the direction that it didn't want to crank. I sold it dirt cheap to someone who I'm sure probably scrapped the whole drat car a month later when the steering inevitably locked up again for them and they either veered into oncoming traffic or otherwise had no idea how to fix it because I didn't tell them. I might have blood on my hands for that one, but whatever, such is the nature of both vehicle ownership and cold, hard capitalism. 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3800 S/C - Bought it because I loved the platform but wanted something with aftermarket support specifically to pour money into engine/power upgrades. The transmission exploded two months into ownership. Rebuilt it, and slowly built the engine over seven years, now I have ~400hp on tap for hood rat poo poo. Joining the crowd, and in order. 1982 Honda Accord - Never ran once. Got for lime $400 off another soldier. 1963 Chevy Impala - Needed a lot of work, but man what a badass first (driving) car. Almost killed me twice though, and not a week went by where I wasn't under the hood. 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis - Honestly, probably the best and most reliable car I ever owned. 10/10 would buy again. Sold it to my brother who promptly drunkenly wrapped it around a pole. 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham - The most COMFORTABLE car I ever owned, and with the best AC. Hideous from outside, like a living room inside. I would drive it barefoot even, just to feel the nice carpet on my feet. 1977 Mercury Cougar XR7 - Loved everything about this, enough to buy it back a few years after I sold it. Sold it again because 8mpg city, 11mpg highway is just too expensive these days. 3rd time's a charm? 1950 Plymouth Special DeLuxe - If I had money, I fantasize about buying another one and converting it into a diesel powered road trip beast. Taught myself to drive a manual transmission as I careened down the mountain roads in Tennessee where I picked it up after winning an ebay auction. 1994 Lincoln Town Car - A POS. 1989 Dodge Colt - Blown main seals, another POS. 1988 Jaguar XJ6 - A surprisingly pleasant car with two serious flaws: all the important systems are powered by the same mineral oil system, and British electronics. 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 - It did its job; a cross country trip, lived out of it for a month while driving between Florida and Tacoma, WA. Not before blowing a transmission and losing ac and heat, though. 1977 Chevy Monte Carlo - My least favorite of all the classics I owned (minus the accord). It's like a discount Mercury Cougar; it felt like a cheaper built machine. Swivel seat was cool I guess. 2005 Crown Vic Police Interceptor - Also did its job, performed a straight shot from Tacoma to Miami through Winter Storm Goliath. Which, a blizzard was a new experience for me, especially with no snow chains or winter tires. Transmission blew 3 miles from the shipping company we were going to go through. Abandoned the car at a Wal Mart. 2005 Ford F150 - Was a very good truck, and honestly probably shouldn't have sold it like I did, especially in the Virgin Islands. 1987 Mercedes 300 SDL - This car had issues, but it was so much fun to drive, and also served me well after Hurricane Maria, as the car sustained damage to the entire pulley system, but due to the nature of older diesels, was able to run the car for weeks with no power or water until a mechanic was available to repair it and get the parts for me. 1996 Geo Metro - Honestly? These get a bad rap. These are great little cars and a lot of fun to drive. I'd buy another in better condition in a heartbeat. 2011 VW Jetta TDI - My current car. It's taken a beating from my current job, and it's in a sorry state, but it is nice to drive and the fuel economy is excellent, so I can't complain there. Just wish I had the money to perform the now extensive maintenance needed. Vile_Nihlist666 fucked around with this message at 01:11 on Oct 31, 2023 |
