I completely forgot I had access to Photoshop that year. Probably spent more time on the song art than the song.

Oh, drat! I'd missed The First Noel when combing back over. I loved that gag!

Rupert Buttermilk posted:

For extremely basic recording that still gets into the weeds a bit, Audacity is free.

For more involved but still very user-friendly (in general) work, get Reaper.

Reaper is fsr and away my recommendation, because it follows many, if not all, of the normal conventions of recording, both home and commercial, so learning it ALSO pushes you into learning well-known info. Track management, multi-track editor and mixing, all of that stuff. Audacity, while versatile, is meant as more of an audio scratch pad, at least to me. Reaper can do everything Audacity does, and about 1000% more.

Gonna add a dark horse free option to the pile here - Da Vinci Resolve is a video editor but has a free version with unlimited audio tracks and I've been doing way more quick and dirty audio editing with that than Audacity lately. About the only thing I do use Audacity for now is recording the actual tracks (also good for ripping audio from other sources), save as wav, then straight over to Resolve, because Resolve is a bit of a pain to switch to an audio interface and arm tracks for recording.

So much less jank than Audacity IMO. It's not built for music, but neither is Audacity.

An even older game, actually. It's We Three Kings with the Chill Penguin stage music from Megaman X jammed into it. Was going to use it as a backing track for something else, but I kinda preferred it as is.

Feelin' it so hard.

I dunno if I will have time to contribute a track this year. I have an idea but time is kinda tight. However, I have completed this other dumb project...

I had a lathe cut record made of my previous tracks that I am gonna give to a few close friends as a xmas card. It sounds kinda poo poo and there are some heavy skips so it is more of an "art" object than a practical record.

Here is what it sounds like (skip and all) for those that are curious.

https://on.soundcloud.com/M9Rtj

Anyway, the guy who did it had it done in one day and I don't think he actually checked anything because the huge skips happen in the same spots on all copies. Kinda sucks because you physically have to move the stylus to get past, but oh well. I might do another press through a more reputable place next year.

Here is my Bandcamp featuring my previous songs.

I have a tentative song under the tree but I wanted to get opinions. Does this need the vocals to be louder relative to the music?

Also, I'm working on a parody of Springsteen's Glory Days for which I'd need a Steven van Zandt and, if I can get one, a Patti Scialfa to do backup vocals. Anyone up for it?
