Always remember that the former President was dumber than the dumbest person you've ever met by a wide margin

I just saw this movie in the theaters and was completely blown away. Based on Priscilla’s 1985 autobiography, this movie is an unflinching look at the relationship between Elvis and Priscilla and does not shy away from anything.

He was 24 and she was 14 when they first met, and the movie is not afraid to remind you of this. People mention it, the soundtrack is informed by it, and Priscilla is constantly surrounded by Algebra books, homework, and had to get permission from her parents to date Elvis Presley.

I absolutely loved this movie; it’s an amazing look at not only their relationship, but at abusive relationships in general. Elvis careens from a pill popping abuser to a lonely, pathetic figure and takes Priscilla with him, constantly stringing her along with promises of a life together that never quite materializes.

Go watch this!!

Just saw this. It probably has value as a corrective to the authorised myth of selfie Presley, but otherwise it’s just fine. It’s solid. The leads are good and Coppola confidently traces the emotional arc of the story.

It kind of throws the virtues and vices of Luhrmann’s “Elvis” into sharper relief. That film was kinda godawful, but it took big swings, and had a crazy energy and unmistakable style. This is infinitely blander and less ambitious in its presentation, but more successful at what it sets out to.

Didn't know there was a thread for this! Saw it last month and loved it. Sofia Coppola with another great film, and Cailee Spaeny with an incredible performance

Seeing Jacob Elordi in this and Saltburn in the same week was some whiplash though :rubby:
