Nah it'll be either AZ at latest or someone trading into AZs spot

I mean Chargers are in a good place to trade into the Cards spot, and then the Cards can trade further down for more value if they want.

A lot changes before the draft but it wouldn't shock me to see New England bring in someone to work with Mac or Zappe and going MHJ, but I don't think there's anyway he goes past Arizona.

I would be hugely shocked. Mac Jones and Zappe were both absolute disasters this year. Mac Jones was 31st in passer rating, and Zappe is like 10 points below that. Combined on the season they would have tied for the most interceptions for any QB, with Sam Howell.

You could say Fields was in the same place last year - same number of games started, similar yards and INT totals (though his passer rating was 8 points higher), but he also had over 1100 yards on the ground.

Does he need an agent for now? Isn't first round rookie deal just a sign here type thing where everything is spelled out and the numbers are locked in? He should definitely get an agent afterwards but why give an agent a cut of a contract they requires no negotiation?

There are differences in guaranteed amounts and other language that can go into the contract as well, even if the dollar amount is fixed. The primary use of an agent for a rookie is to keep him up at the top of the draft lists, basically as a marketing agent. Also as a PR manager for any stories that come out prior to the draft (whether it's an old lovely tweet, or a poor performance at a pro day/combine, etc). Whether or not that has an effect in the end this year, who knows.

To put it another way, an agent's maximum commission for NFL contracts is 3%. On the #1 draft spot contract, thats about $1.14 million to the agent. If you are drafted #2 instead of #1, you lose about $1.7 million in contract value.

Let's the Chaos begin.

These kind of reports always seem to exaggerate how much the Bears could get. Like, is trading up from 2 to 1 worth a high 2nd (34th overall) AND a future first for Washington? No way. Draft value calculators show that the 2nd and 34th picks combined are worth about 5% more than the 1st overall (or in other words a balanced trade would have the Bears giving Washington back like a 4th at least - so Bears get 2 and 34, Washington gets 1 and whatever the Bears 4th round is). Throwing in their 2025 1st would be insane. There's no way that Washington should take that unless they are 100% confident that the only QB of value is Caleb, and that he is going to hit no matter what.

They’re presumably making the pick to be in a position to trade up to take a QB so that they aren’t starting Sam Darnold next year.

Even considering that, whatever QB4 ends up being is likely to take some time getting his feet under him and the Texans have a good chance of getting a high 2nd rounder. Especially since the NFC North is looking pretty good outside of the Vikings.

No way did the Vikings do that trade to just sit on both 1st round picks at the spot they are. And if they don't move up, one of the Broncos/Raiders will.

A trade up from 10 to 5 for just a 2025 2nd feels like fantasyland stuff

Yeah that's just stupid. It's be the Jets 2025 1st at the very least even if the Chargers were willing to do it.

The real clickbait juice is La Canfora projecting six QBs in round one, including JJ at 2:

1. Caleb Williams, Chicago
2. JJ McCarthy, Washington
3. Jayden Daniels, Giants
4, Drake Maye, Vikings
13. Michael Penix Jr., Las Vegas
30. Bo Nix, Denver

I don't see the Cardinals moving down to 11 in any world and falling out of the top 3 receivers spots. Maybe they'll move down, but I think they want to stay in the top 10.

The Broncos also said Bo Nix was their QB3 and they were the team faking trading up to 10 in order to force the Vikings to trade up.

Why? Who knows. Only the Jets gained on that one.

"Tricking" a team you would only play every 3-4ish years (and not this year) to give extra picks to a team you are playing this year (and many other years) seems like a very bad decision making process.
