All I know is that whoever the Raiders draft in the first round is almost guaranteed to be a bust!

Don't worry the Patriots will reach and take some small school DB nobody's ever heard of in the second or third round. Also RIP to any WR 's career that gets drafted by the Pats.

The Chiefs could do with a run stuffing DT alongside Chris Jones

Darn, now my pick in the Goon draft looks like a real reach. If I had known about his character concerns, I'd have left him on the board.

There's a chance he was celebrating New Beer's Eve.

I got the players ranked #1, #34, and #35 for the Patriots in the Goon draft.

#20, #26, #51, and #92 for the Packers in the Goon Draft. We did good.

For a pretend NFL GM I feel like I did pretty well for myself considering I don't watch College Football.

As a Pats fan I would very much like to trade back with Minnesota or someone and still come away with our QB of the future.

I also acknowledge it is one of the dumbest rumors in football history and will never happen

Trade back would be awesome and probably ideal. That way we can hopefully get an OT / WR. I'm still scared of drafting QBs in the first round, but that's a me problem. I can understand the rationale behind going QB with #3 overall, but that would be my least preferred scenario.

Why are you scared of drafting QBs in the first round?

That’s where good qbs come from!

Spreadsheet of QBs drafted.

I put together a little spreadsheet showing the status of the last QB drafted team by team. In the AFC if I am counting correctly 7/16 starters were drafted by their original team in the first round. Baker Mayfield was a first round pick, but the Browns cut him loose a little too early it appears.

In the NFC only 3 teams still have their first round QB still on the roster. Those teams are the Giants, Cardinals, and the Packers.

I also learned in this exercise that the Saints don't really like to draft that many QBs.

That’s good data and I salute your effort.

Still, the majority of the great qbs were drafted in the first round, and early in the first round.

Thank you! I agree it's fairly straight forward to identify who has a good chance at being a QB in the NFL, but some guys never really make the leap. I think if anything first round draft picks that failed to catch on with previous teams are where I would try to do my QB shopping. I like a good reclamation project like Baker Mayfield resurrecting his career.

Ive read rumblings that the Pats and Giants are the ones in on Aiyuk in a trade down scenario.

The Pats have the cap space, but I question the wisdom of trading a premier pick for a WR who is due a pay day. Also the Patriots aren't in any danger of competing next year. They are going to be bad for a couple of years before they get better.

Someone post the A+ PFF drafts from 3 years ago and let's see if they hold any water

https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2021-nfl-draft-grades-all-32-teams

The teams that got an A+ were the following:

Chicago Bears
Cleveland Browns
LA Chargers
New England Patriots (my team, we only have 2 starters left from that class).

Surely these teams must have seen a lot of success in the post season with their superior drafting 3 years ago.

Kinda weird the Pats spent a sixth rounder on Milton solely so he can throw Hail Maries, but maybe they know something I don't.

I actually like the Milton pick. Brissett isn't in our long term plans, Zappe is going to get cut, and the other QBs are JAGs. Milton has a lot of physical talent and if you get him in your building you can see what he can do in practice. If he doesn't progress, you have a backup QB lined up. If QB isn't going to be the plan for him in the future, see if you can transition him to a different position. It's a sixth round pick, what do you have to lose?
