It's me, I'm the loving weirdo who's starting with Final Fantasy 1, and I just finished it! Not only that, but I enjoyed it way more than I expected, so much so I got all the cheevos 'cos why not? Definitely a very archaic thing, but I got into a kind of zen state with the grinding, and enjoyed piecing together where I needed to go next from villagers and whatnot (referred to a guide a couple of times, though).

Just fired up 2 and experienced more plot in the first 10 minutes than I did in 10 hours of FF1. Enjoying this one and its weird Elder Scrolls-style levelling too so far.

My favorite part of Final Fantasy 1 is going to a dang space station and realizing that the game takes place in a post post apocalypse and is actually a sci-fi game!

I just beat Final Fantasy 12 Zodiac Age last night. I have tried most FF games, but this is the first one I ever beat.

The setting was interesting and I liked playing around with gambits, and that's about it. Vaan is the worst. Penelo's haircut is bad. The game would be unplayable without the fast forward features. All the characters just shrug through the story. The hunts could be interesting but the menus are a slog to navigate.

I'm glad I beat it, I can finally say I've beaten one of these games. That said, I don't think I'll be clearing out the rest of them any time soon.

I would say if you are ever interested - 12 is not the game I would point towards people to be like the end all be all. 1, 6, 7 and 9 would be my picks. And good news all those have xp boosts and fast forward mechanics in them now on steam.

I finished Death Stranding Directors Cut. Whew.
Some games I beat before that were like, Nier Automata, FFVII Remake, Pikmin 4, Elden Ring, and Tears of the Kingdom. I've gotten so used to big game completely blowing away my expectations that I'm completely hosed trying to choose a new one. I haven't been hit this hard with the listlessness between games in a while.

The hell am I supposed to play after Death Stranding?

Try something that's short and gamey. I popped in castlevania rondo of blood and it feels so good sometimes to just play a video game rear end video game

My daughter and I played through the remaster and I was so upset that the music at the end glitched out on like 4 of the 5 episodes.

Just beat Arcade Paradise again. It may very easily be my personal favorite small game. I just keep coming back to it. Great on the steam deck.

Continued my Metal Gear Solid playthrough with MGS2. What a good time, especially coming straight off the first one. Even with broadly similar mechanics, there are just so many gameplay improvements. I had a much better time than when I first played it a few years ago - I was basically pushing through it for the story then, but this time I actually enjoyed playing most of it. Not too say there weren't gripes with some of the design, but I was having enough fun to not really care. Looking forward to the next one.

I can't emphasize enough just how crazy mgs 2 was when it came out. Like it was better than a lot of end of the ps2 life cycle games. Between it and Silent Hill 2 I had crazy high expectations for that system. It was only decades later that I understood just how much work those teams put into them to make them look so good.

I ended up 100 percenting Days Gone and I can't even tell you why other than it just felt so drat good to play. I haven't played it in years now and when I think of going back I just dont really want to deal with the story at all. If it was about anything else I would probably be more into it but I can't take anything away from the gameplay. Fighting hordes is so drat fun and the bike feels amazing. I have to reiterate that was a really well done write up - great job.

Just beat Baldur's gate. First stop in my bg thru bg 3 run. Love this old as game. I know in my head it isn't perfect but in my heart its a 10 out of 10. Out of all the games I've ever loved its def the oldest that I've replayed to completion the most.

Now onto siege of dragon whatever. Don't care as much about that one but its more Baldur's gate so I'll have fun

I couldn't disagree more. Everything I love about bg 1 and 2 the feeling they have me back in 98 and 2000 bg 3 gives me again. I understand why some don't see it that way but I will take more larian games like bg 3 over the games that bioware makes now

I wish BG and BG2 were designed from the ground up to be Turn Based. Then I could see all the cool wizard stuff.

Just beat Baldur's Gate Siege of Dragonspear and on my way to Baldur's Gate 2. I still love to this day being able to take the same character across multiple games. Blew my mind when I was a kid.

Rounded out my MGS master collection playthrough with MGS3, and it was a great time overall. Just like going from 1 to 2, the switch to a full 3D camera felt like a big leap forward for the series, even though the central mechanics are largely similar. I only learned this time around that the original release's overhead camera was still an option; after playing around with it occasionally, it doesn't fit nearly as well as it did in 1 & 2 because of the more open and outdoor-centric level design. The game really needed that 3D update to shine.

Stylistically, I think the game's my favorite. Switching to a 1960s cinematic aesthetic was a big swing, but it worked. The story's great fun, and the Cobra group is the best iteration of weirdo boss outfits in the series.

My main gripe is that it tends to stretch out a bit too much heading into the end. The motorcycle chase and Metal Gear Shagohod fights were cool, but went on a bit too long, and when an aggravatingly slow escort mission came up after that, I was just thinking get on with it before finally heading in to the final boss fight.

But that's minor stuff, I still loved it overall. Now my dilemma is that I'm in the mood for more Metal Gear, but I'm out of easily playable ones aside from MGSV. That one's still my favorite on the gameplay end, but I've also put a few hundred hours into it already because of that. Guess I'll let things rest for a bit and see if I feel like more if that one.

Be like me in 98 and just keep playing mgs over and over
