It's not like you need a special pillow. But as it happens I have a triangular one which I use for sitting up and watching screen and then it transfers between my legs very effectively, as long as my dog doesn't object to me moving an inch once she's settled

A friend of mine has the cucumber gene and knows if she's in the room with one, like some sort of side character from Vic Reeves Big Night Out. Yeah we have, I remember ranting because I am also a Cucumber Mentat and places are always putting it in the water and it tastes like doo-doo water

I think there's just a lot more famous people now, or at least vaguely-recognisable people. And every single one of their deaths is disseminated on social media and the MSM. If you know of a few thousand people and many of them are Olds then yeah there's gonna be a steady stream of dying in your feed

Mesopotamia posted:I have this hunch the intro music started out intending to sound like the kind of tacky poo poo someone like Kendal would listen to ("it's classy piano, right, but it's got a hip hop beat and sub bass"), but ended up being taken seriously because a load of people liked it. It's proper shite. Counterpoint, it's a very catchy theme with a melody that's earwormy despite going outside its key maybe 4 times - it makes it fun to noodle. And the exact elements you describe (slightly gauche faux-classical melody mixed with modern subs and a beat) perfectly complements the thematic elements of vulgar rich idiot being supplanted by his clan of equally vulgar rich idiot kids who have pretensions of being cool and "with it".

MeinPanzer posted:Can't believe people think the Succession theme is bad. For everyone speculating about how it's meant to be interpreted, here's the composer, Nicholas Brittel, talking about it: This is a dumb writeup, because a waltz rhythm would have worked and would maybe have been a way of depicting the struggle between the 3 main characters i guess but... it's not a waltz, it's in 4/4. And everyone forgets about the real Eldest Boy!

Just Another Lurker posted:I recommend "Knives Out" for some inheritance related drama. Good film. Also, if you want something which probably provided inspiration to Succession, try Festen, the 90s Danish movie. It's the first of the Dogme films so it has that really pretentious handheld art-film style, but it's also excellent and dark and awkward as all hell

Private Speech posted:That's honestly been a popular solution for a while, also similar for non-EU with other more permissive EU countries back when that was an option. Thanks for the vote of confidence, lol. But yeah, if you can find somewhere to live in Ireland it seems a lot better than the bleak fash landscape of Toryland these days. And having gone through visa stuff with my non-EU partner it's permissive and easy as hell here compared to most places

Despite the usual generalised awfulness of bureaucracy, some specific parts can work extremely well

It's a bit of an internet cliché, but insanely accurate for my generation: Plants are the new pets. Pets are the new kids. Kids are like the new exotic animals, where you need to be incredibly wealthy and slightly insane to have them.
