For basmati in my rice cooker I usually go 4 parts rice to 5 parts water. Seems to work like it should.

therattle posted:Not a rice expert, but I think jasmine is more delicate and lends itself to SE and E Asian flavours, like Thai curries, etc. Basmati is more robust in every way, and more suited to S Asian and Central Asian/Middle Eastern dishes. Pretty much this, also I think basmati generally is better suited for "western" dishes.

Just freeze it and you'll avoid the risk of keeping it in the fridge for too long. It might taste slightly worse, but if I have to choose between severe food poisoning and slightly worse rice it's an easy choice.
