Saw that netflix dropped a few trailers for anime next season: Grimm Variations seems like a twisted version of Grimm’s Fairy Tales with reimagined settings and characters. Character design by CLAMP! I think the trailer reveals too much and I kind of wish I didn’t see it but I’m hyped for it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTU3detmX_I Gundam: Requiem for a Vengeance focuses on the European front of the one year war. It is notable to me for two things: it claims to be entirely produced with Unreal Engine 5, and the director has worked on Star Citizen. Those details are right there in the trailer description, which is hilarious because if I had a hand in it, I would bury those details as much as possible until the show comes out and proves itself without them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_fNP-ipgJA On the other hand, I think it looks better than the Bright anime although that one went for a more cel shaded look. Well, given the strength of the Gundam name, I’m sure people will probably watch an episode or two at the very least but this certainly isn’t going to be anything close to Witch.

Erasmus Brosdau worked on Star Citizen? That doesn't surprise me. Although I've always known him as the dude who made an overwrought 40K fanfilm that set the tone for a dozen other bad 40K fanfilms and mediocre "official" 40K animations.

I fully expect that Gundam show to be more zeon apologetic poo poo. Also solo leveling is doing stuff! The fights have some cool fluidity to them.

one of sign of affections biggest strengths is how it employs perspective + its strong sense for shot composition. and as a liker of shameless visual metaphors, i have to show my appreciation for how episode 1 is full of dark, empty, snowy scenes and in the final episode everything is framed like this:

if you like mygo you should watch the writer's classic 2017 magical girl anime flip flappers. she had to leave the production halfway through for personal reasons so the back half's a bit weaker but it doesn't completely fall off a cliff so much as the pacing gets a bit off the rails and a lot of what's cool about her writing is on display in the stuff she worked on locodol's also pretty good. something she got full authorship over so it's just a full lesbian comedy about two extremely minor local celebrity idols hanging out and putting on really cheap poorly produced shows The Colonel fucked around with this message at 23:56 on Mar 23, 2024 |
