I'm not a big fan despite loving jangle poppy stuff- I think that Stipe is a wet blanket more often than not. Chronic Town EP is good and was obviously a big landmark in indie music. I like the covers of Velvets songs on Dead Letter Office more than 95% of REM songs. I get why people love them though- maybe if I was a little older it would be more of a formative thing for me.

With that being said, my favorite R.E.M. album is Out of Time, because it's their most southern album. You can't tell me songs like Low, Country Feedback, or Belong could've been written by the Replacements or whomever.
