I've made a few ~real~ songs with this thing that sound like song songs. It's easily passed the point of being 'good enough' for the general public in a lot of circumstances.

https://app.suno.ai/song/9b82cc58-b0df-4aa3-88a1-5c42dc18f783/
Bop about hoarding tiny gum and not wanting to share

https://app.suno.ai/song/aa77a790-e46b-4d78-9b45-77e7a1865222/
new wave song about bones bones bones, might as well be a true song if it wasn't for the quality that Suno lacks.

https://app.suno.ai/song/adeac6fe-579b-47da-9d3e-3b443e484c02/
This guy absolutely refuses to believe in Chevrolets or Chryslers, late 70s early 80s rock style with a sick guitar solo.

https://app.suno.ai/song/47f5b0c9-d4bc-4358-adcb-eca4fa8c5b34/
German new wave song about the sausage apocalypse, in German, of course. Sad. :(

https://app.suno.ai/song/c9c7f9c3-382b-4082-86c9-e51dcc3b2480/
Dude has too many hats, sings with emotion.

https://app.suno.ai/song/67f2692d-0c16-458a-b591-87b735312283/
70s pop rock ballad about a tiny fart in space, quite pretty voices.

https://app.suno.ai/song/22485716-8033-4a46-a73b-2fd53f2cf2e1/
Goofy 90s alternative jam about a never ending box of Slim Jims and one man wrestling with it

https://app.suno.ai/song/3627dc8c-6056-42d7-9222-0302233cd9d1/
Experimental-ish extremely slow somber start with a ramp up in the center and a style change yet keeps the same beat. Japanese woman singing about a daemon battery.

https://app.suno.ai/song/62946c1a-82dc-46e1-b6b0-70073bb8aec5/
Country-esque song about beans and spaceships. Killer chorus imho.

I started doing lyrics in languages I don't speak in order to avoid hearing weirdness in how things are pronounced.
Suno is really good at instrumentals too if you avoid lyrics entirely. I'm guessing the complexities of the human voice confuses the model, vs. clean electronic instruments, allowing you to keep a very clean song simply by avoiding voice.

https://app.suno.ai/song/86dbf007-5352-4a5a-8055-175891d6381a/
Essentially a 1:19 ringtone-like instrumental. Pretty, clean, nice.

https://app.suno.ai/song/782bb766-7c8c-4786-8191-c22032a8d3d8/
4:20 instrumental synthwave

https://app.suno.ai/song/0e7a3b48-b7f3-4d50-b56a-b68c238332b8/
EDM baby! Lots of cool structure, sounds like a real song to my dumb-rear end ears. Has a sweet drum break at 4:20

If you're new to AI things like this, note that there is no such thing as useless to them, anything you put in the prompt boxes, absolutely anything at all, changes the result. Random noise, useless phrases, strings of ~~~~~~~~~, doesn't matter. This is why, if you DO peek into people's prompts, especially in the image space, they are filled with absolutely insane garbage, cargo culting, and just a general misunderstanding of how these things work. "YES BIG BOOBS LIKE USED TO MAKE NO UGLY THINGHS I DON"T LIKE"
It's also why if you do look at the structure of the things I've summoned from Suno, a lot of it won't make sense. Maybe it doesn't! Phrases, symbols, whatever. Basically, throw some poo poo in and see what you get out.

V3 Alpha is out for paying members, fyi. I haven't messed with it much yet, won't be able to till later. It can at least start with two minute generations.

I'm having a ton of fun with v3. It's far more musically capable. It prompts a lot different than v2. If you've ever used image generative AI things then you already know that prompting changes between model releases, Suno is no different. It makes structured songs now. It's still in alpha so it gets real weird when you are trying to continue lyrics past the initial start.

Personally I've always been more into the music side and it's fantastic for that imho, avoids the lyrics continuation issues people are having.

What a great, great toy/tool. V3 really is something else. I went back and remade stuff I had in v2 that I liked decently enough

80s hair metal ballad about a never ending box of Slim Jims
http://puu.sh/K2MjC/d3d7ad1f85.mp4

Lady smoothly singing about how she hoards gum
http://puu.sh/K2MjW/e58834cd90.mp4

I plugged in my local weather report without formatting at all and got this, think early 90s kinda goofy, clean style.
http://puu.sh/K2MkD/2b22ed1678.mp4

Ancient Bones whisper to this lady, she's a pretty good singer. The lyrics shown in the video are not correct at all to start because I ended up taking the intro from a totally unrelated song and then built off that. Suno doesn't have a way to edit things so that's why a whole different song is there to start. I thought the intro was really nice and took it in a different direction.
http://puu.sh/K2MkW/844d57b7ff.mp4

The quality is lacking, pretend you're listening to it through a blown speaker in a 74 Trans Am. These guys REFUSE to believe in Chevrolets or Chryslers. 70s rock song.
http://puu.sh/K2MmE/cfd4e3da58.mp4

Starts with a conversation, a senator being questioned, he's been accused. Turns into a Tears for Fears-esque 80s ballad. This is the song I like the most right now because it tickles my brain in all the right ways.

Found a program called stem roller.
It will split up your songs into bass, Drums, others (lead instruments), the whole instrumentals, and vocals
https://www.stemroller.com/

here are the vocals

https://vocaroo.com/1eCLbgSxncwR

This seems to be noticeably better than UVR5 https://ultimatevocalremover.com/

In testing the same song side by side. UVR gives you four stems (Bass, Drums, Other, Vocals) while Stemroller gives you five stems (Bass, Drums, Instrumental, Other, Vocals). Stemroller seems to just clip them all apart a bit cleaner and keep them isolated. It's a lot quicker on my system too, in the matter of seconds vs. the 4~ minutes or so with UVR tuned to saturate my 4090. Thanks for pointing it out!

I find it best practice to not go further than around 3 extensions anyway, there's too much quality and style loss with both models. I asked an Udio dev about arbitrary extension points and they say it's a planned feature, it's necessary for me to switch from Suno, though the quality of Udio is so drat high.

Annoyingly, Udio's last update disabled "manual mode". I don't think many people know about it, but apparently it's basically feeding keywords directly instead of interpreting them through another AI that filters them somehow. Anyway, manual mode was awesome, it let you get very specific with styles. Without it I couldn't get anything close to psych-pop era Beatles, it kept leaning too modern. Manual mode nailed it. Apparently it's a bug according to the devs and they're adding it back? But people in the Discord talked about getting hit with moderation notices because they used keywords of real artists, there might be more to it.

Manual mode is back and seems to be working fine, though the Udio devs do have a thing open to report if you have issues with it. My guess is they did pull it on purpose to stop people from summoning training data out of it which is why they are asking for any errors people encounter.
Seems to work just fine for my uses though!

I used "1960s, psychedelic rock, experimental" in a prompt and almost every result included the lyrics "Picture yourself in a..." :v:

Also, how do you add your own artwork to a track in Udio?

You don't add it, you generate it inside Udio itself. Select a song, Edit, then you'll see 'Edit image' over the cover art to the left, click that and you get an interface to prompt for it to generate artwork.

Suno is probably going to become a Spotify-like AI music thing. They just added following profiles and a few more social features.

Makes sense, keep it all internal rather than having to go outside to YouTube. I don't know what their strategy is for like, business growth but since we're all paying customers maybe it doesn't matter. Wonder if/when monetization will look like.

This isn't surprising. That Rolling Stone article about Suno didn't even mention custom lyrics, they're clearly gearing the service to be a slop generator as opposed to something designed to give the user agency and control.

Udio has been doing better in that regard, at least, though it had a lot of that social junk out the gate. Hopefully they follow through on providing the ability to generate stems.

I still ultimately want this to be a VST plugin, or similar.

Maybe. In talking with the devs they are kinda naive nerds. Inpainting (or infill as they call it) should be released with v4 and id assume a quality jump like the versions before it. They've even mentioned stems as well, though it would be like it is now where you break the master apart rather than get the stems directly since Suno (and Udio) don't use stems at all, they output the master only. We'll see! I actually don't really like Udio in so much as it's interface and UI, but the quality is clearly better.

Are there any known prompt modifiers for Suno or Udio in the same way that you can tell SD to give priority to words (like this:1.6), or introduce variety from a list by {using|choosing|selecting|omitting} phrases like so?

In Suno at least, no. The thing that does seem to work is repeating words and also placement. Earlier in the prompt is more powerful vs. end. There is no way to 'lessen' a set of tokens though.
