Got two massages in the past two days and the masseuse (same both times) said I should be getting one every month, so I guess one of my resolutions for the year will be to stretch more (and hopefully get a couple more massages)

With anyone I knew under 20 who had a kid, the make or break point was how much help their parents/grandparents gave them.

Yeah, anybody who I know had a kid before like 30 had very involved family, a lot of money, or one parent who could be home all the time. Oftentimes a combination of those factors!

And on an ethical level I just don't know if I could bring them into a world that will almost certainly see the collapse of civilization and all the horrors it will bring within their lifetime.

I know it feels much more real because we are experiencing it daily, but there's always been some sort of ongoing crisis or negative externality that has made bringing kids into the world a questionable choice. And yet people still get up in the morning and try to make the most of life. The vast majority of people ITT were born under the very real threat of nuclear annihilation (or at least an oft-discussed threat).

Last day in Thailand/SE Asia and I am so ready to go home. A lot of fun but I remembered about a week ago why I only do this trip once every few years.

Also regarding Tomlin, 17 years without a losing season is insane even if it has gotten stale. Someone in one of the N/V threads said that the Brady-Belichek Pats broke a lot of brains regarding coaching expectations, and I'm inclined to agree. The Lions haven't even had half that many non-losing seasons since 9/11!

Missed drive chat, but the longest drive I've done "on my own" was the western Chicago burbs to Philly when my wife and I first moved here. 12 hours with only a couple of quick stops, back half was through uncharted (for us) territory in PA in pitch dark and driving rain. And with my wife driving our car by herself while I had the van, she hated that.

That really sucks and all, but I run over there every so often and I have zero memory of a gate in front of Xfinity Live. Certainly not one big enough to impale yourself!

If you look closely, nearly every character's ending vignette features at least one of Celes, Edgar, or Setzer, since they're the only characters that you have to get in the World of Ruin. That way, the scenes still work even if you were a loving jerk and skipped recruiting somebody. I think the only exceptions are Strago (can't recruit without Relm) and Relm (dunno what this looks like without Strago).

In retropsect that movie is such a complete disaster that it's worth a watch. All the knights of the round table have their own unique fighting styles that are clearly inspired by the Final Fantasy job system. You've got a monk, a ninja, dragoon, a knight, etc. Keira Knightley is a dark elf rogue.

Madds Mikkelsen plays a loving Samurai and is introduced by the whole "draw a sword surrounded by enemies take them down 1 by 1" trope

If you've lost ten pounds by not drinking for three weeks then
1. Good on ya

4. Trying to watch what I eat

I've lost weight while drinking, the issue is that drinking makes me want to snack a lot.

this is the right thread to follow for actual economic news with no tweets allowed, and not in a politics forum. It's as close to real a data-driven information channel about the economy as I've found and more people should participate.

Almost no one besides economists cares about the data on this, if the economy feels bad to the person experiencing it then that person will say that it's bad. Not saying the data are wrong but we're firmly in the era of Feels-Based Politics, so data take a backseat to the lived experiences of voters.
