This one bit is actually a reference to something Green Day did recently, which was the impetus for the cartoon: https://www.billboard.com/music/rock/green-day-tweak-donald-trump-american-idiot-lyric-new-years-rockin-eve-1235574448/ That doesn't make it less stupid, mind, just figured the context might be interesting for some folks.

Vib Rib posted:It's not new or surprising but it blows my loving mind every time I see people like this acting like trans people are (or are even supported by) "the establishment" in any loving sense. They're so deep in their imagined persecution that even marginalized groups that are getting almost daily hate-legislation proposed against them are somehow "the establishment" while conservatives themselves, clinging to centuries of traditional backing, sucking off billionaire elites and corporate doctrines, are clearly the plucky little rebels. It is absolutely one of the most interesting things about conservatives. Despite everything, they must at all times maintain the delusion that they are oppressed outsiders (while simultaneously representing a majority). Part of it is that they believe their positions are not just right, but self-evidently and obviously right, and that the solution to every problem is simple if you approach it with common sense. (Where, of course, "common sense" is always defined as "the most conservative position possible"). So if the conservatives had ever been in power, obviously all problems would have been solved; since they haven't, clearly conservatives have never been in power. This is also where the myth of the Deep State came from during the Trump presidency; they had to come up with something to explain why the country wasn't just immediately fixed as soon as conservatives had control of the government.

They didn't specifically write a song about trans people as far as I know. They did write King for a Day, which is about a cross-dresser. (Not the same thing, but I did see an anecdote on reddit of the lead singer grabbing a trans flag out of the audience and waving it around during it.)Green Day posted:My daddy threw me in therapy The band has also made several pro-trans-rights statements, said they want their concerts to feel like a safe space for marginalized people (calling trans people out as an example specifically), etc. None of this is recent, of course. Billie Joe Armstrong was talking about being bisexual in the mid-90s. They've always been a politically active left-wing band that's friendly to the LGBTQ+ community.

Speaking of deathbeds, let's see if we can get some closure on 2023 in this week's edition of... It turned out the woke pimp was just dozens of FBI agent ghosts in a coat the entire time! ...which also means, based on earlier strips, that this whole porn enterprise is based on FBI ghosts selling things to other FBI ghosts. I'm not really sure how that's supposed to accomplish anything, which I guess makes it perfect for Sinfest. They already were! But I guess if you didn't say that, Death wouldn't have been able to say this line that Ishida clearly thinks is cool. As I was saving these a few minutes ago, I got to this one and thought "I mean, this is definitely someone's fetish". And then this happened. Should I be worried that I guessed right? Goodbye, Woke Pimp! Looking forward to finding out what the next kind of pimp is. Well, she's talking to windows now. That's definitely a good sign. Alas, we're not done with the pink zombie demon ex-hooker yet. The absolute loving audacity of this man, putting "happy new year" at the bottom of a strip published on January 14th. You're not a member of the Russian Orthodox Church, Tatsuya Ishida! Pettyfest

They aren't being depicted with the earpieces and sunglasses anymore. ...Not that Sinfest has been known for internal consistency, despite trying to tell some kind of incomprehensible narrative in between the nazi propaganda. They're probably just supposed to be generic demons at this point, but referring to them as "FBI ghosts" is a lot funnier and there isn't a meaningful difference in motivation.

As for what happened, nobody really knows yet. As far as is known, he is dead and he was in a Ukrainian prison; there's a handwritten note circulating around in which he alleges that other prisoners were beating him up and the authorities weren't taking his illness seriously. So it's possible he was mistreated (which would be really bad, even if he was a chud), but there isn't strong evidence for it yet, which isn't stopping the usual suspects like Garrison from saying that Zelensky personally tortured him to death for fun.
