This year, let's take the time to talk about our favorite opening / ending sequences that came out in 2023. The ones you watched every time, the ones that got stuck in our head playing on loop, the ones you bookmarked on youtube. Whether it was the music, the visuals, or both, it ended up being one of your favorites. It'll be a contest where the benchmarks are made up and the points don't matter. Submit your links. Judge and be judged. Test your might. Important note: your favorite OP/ED need not necessarily be from good anime. Even a dogshit anime can have a great OP/ED and vice versa. 2nd note: After much sombre deliberation, the powers that be have decided that anime music videos are allowed. Please post responsibly. I'll start us off. OPOTY Candidates Vinland Saga S2 cour 1 -- Great song, great visuals, great show. The Legendary Hero is Dead -- Trash show, but catchy OP. That laugh man. Magical Destroyers -- Super interesting. Shame the anime couldn't live up to it. Skip and Loafer -- That goofy dance towards the end will never not crack me up. Oshi no Ko -- One of the slickest OPs to one of the year's slickest anime. Bleach TYBW Part 2 -- Continuing the proud tradition of Bleach having great OPs. Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead -- It finally got finished! Frieren -- I can't not include Frieren here. EDOTY Candidates Magical Destroyers -- Rare to have a show with both a great OP and ED. Probably why I stuck with it. One-Hit Kill Sister -- It's crazy that an anime this garbo got something so far out of its league. Undead Unluck -- Just something sweet that I never skip. The 100 Girlfriends That Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You -- Cutest ending of the year by a country mile. Music Videos Kien Romance -- Was this really made by one person? Insane if so. ファイトソング (Fight Song) -- Serious style going on. Technically came out in 2022 but I doubt most of us watched it then. Starship Velociraptor -- Anime ja nai but close enough.

OP and ED for High Card, giving you pop punk nostalgia with stylized silhouettes followed by carpool karaoke. OP and ED for Undead Girl Murder Farce because they're a fungus that grew on me. -------------------- Cardfight!! Hell's Paradise had my favorite song in an OP this year and Magical Destroyers was my favorite OP overall, both were great. My favorite ED was Insomniacs After School - it's a simple idea (a series of photographs of the main characters hanging out) executed nicely, but it's incredibly elevated by the fantastic song, Lapse by Homecomings - the chorus laden guitars into a simple bass riff giving a dreamy pop vibe. One Piece had one of its greatest years ever in 2023, and its OP25 is just another part of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu-0eh9jdZg The way the circle, the O, is first presented as an entrapment, the past that Luffy has to break through and destroy to free the people of Wano, before then recontextualizing the O as something of completeness, of hope, of something people exists alongside with and gathers around as friends and community–including the strawhat itself–before finally zooming out and showing the O in One Piece... it's drat good... Oh and the song is a banger too

My favorite OP comes from my least favorite/most disappointing show of the year, Yohane the Parhelion.
