gm peace thread, i found this song recently that I'm going to sample, or maybe just throw onto a mixtape called Da Funky Counselor or something

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PwvntnvRUE

"Recorded in 1974 under the auspices of a senior project at a small Quaker boarding school in Newtown, Pennsylvania, “Eternal Life” is the product of Shira Small’s four years away from the Wagner Projects in East Harlem. In Harlem, Small grew up imitating Ray Charles, the Temptations, Ella Fitzgerald—and Joni Mitchell. “When I was younger, I could do a great Joni Mitchell imitation,” Small remembered. “I used to really nail it.”

JFC a high school senior's project!

Obama should have been and needed to be discredited in the years after his presidency. Sadly, he was not and so will continue to haunt us for decades.

I always handle this by saying from the perspective of representation and how we see ourselves as a nation he was important, and that he dogfucked us worse than Reagan did on policy.

that works because it gets people initially open to what you’re gonna say; he was important to our national self image! and I’m not here to tell black people how to feel about having a black president. it’s also extremely difficult to call you racist after you say that then immediately pull up black homeownership charts.

the time capsule house was incredible. conversation pit living room. kitchen and fixtures out of a time warp from 1980. Checkerboard tile entryway lit by two faux Chinese lanterns with red bulbs. amazing vibes.

also have got my wife listening to The Flashman Papers, which I’ve been chewing through since late November. I think there’s a line you can draw in terms of craft between this author and James Ellroy.

if you make an effort post that long and make your point that clearly and cite sources, whoever lobbed the accusation at you should have to produce an equally effortful post either defending the accusation, or in the form of a book report that explains how their ignorance has now been resolved, or face permaban

our county supervisors passed a motion to condemn anti-trans laws in Iowa tonight, and then immediately after voted down a resolution to condemn the city attorney for arresting a bunch of trans people for standing in the road during a protest against a transphobic speaker on campus.

one speaker said that if it would be wrong to arrest the people at a woolworth sit-in, then it was wrong to arrest these people. an NAACP rep apparently thought that was an appalling comparison. ah libs.
