It has got things I like but whenever I get one I wish I had gotten something else. Mustard? I like mustard. Pickles? I like pickles. Meats? I can find pork to be dry but in theory yeah! Salami? Ham? Yes please. Swiss? I like Swiss. I suspect it's the pickles and mustard that are too strong for the other ingredients.

Dear OP I thought I was in the same position, but then I had a really good cuban sandwich. I think I had only been eating lovely ones from chain/gimmicky restaurants before. Now it's one of my favorite sandwiches. Monte Cristo is my #1 edit: vvvvvv reuban is my #2. Please post where you get your favorite cuban sandwiches. There used to be a place near me called "my cuban spot" that closed down because a lease dispute with the landlord  : a puerto rican place called kiosko 787 opened in the same spot that makes a mean cuban sandwich too. They make their own variety of hot sauces that go really well with their cubano.

I’ve only had one Cuban sandwich, and it was in Austin, TX at a small deli. Sandwich was pretty good, if I may so myself. I’ve also had potato chips that were flavored like a Cuban sandwich. Aren’t they called Cubano?

It's hard to find a good cubano, at least here in Michigan, I have to make my own if I want a decent one. Upside is they are very easy to make, hardest part is the bread really.
