I've been told in Texas terms that Alabama is becoming a public version of SMU, in that a lot of wealthy kids are adding Bama to their fallback lists as it's becoming more prestigious.

I've been to a few UH-Rice games there and the place was so outdated it was basically a high school auditorium in a bad way. Like you could still make out the faded out words COLORED ONLY and WHITES ONLY on the restroom doors. I heard Tudor finally got renovated a few years back.

I like that people think that the interests who took- conservative estimate- 30 years to settle on a playoff format are going to agree on and coordinate the dissolution and re-forging of the SEC and Big Ten within our lifetimes.
Is it in those hands anymore? Sure seems like it's more up to Disney and Fox these days, aka folks who live their life a quarter year at a time.

I mean yeah it's not getting hammered out by the end of June with implementation in 2025, but I think the BCS era sticks in the mud are sidelined or dead now.

And even now this system is rigged for Notre Dame. They still don't have to play a conference title game, and yes they'll have to play the first round but as the 5 seed they'll draw the 12 seed - which will usually be the G5 rep.

That means UMass is leaving the A-10. Their alums are not going to like that. UMass is a basketball school, bad as it may be at the moment, and the MAC is a big step down in basketball.

Might want to stay tuned to see if they actually go through with it.

I haven't verified this other than found out when Western Michigan would've qualified under a 6+6, 2016; It would make sense to judge the past 10 years with a 6+6. Temple with two looks suspect but I'm gonna assume it's right.

51 different programs would have made the playoff at least once, which is a good bit higher than I'd imagined.

14 different mid-majors would have made a playoff, 19 total appearances in 10 years. I do imagine the selection committee will rank things a bit differently now that they're actually seeding a 12-team playoff, and more than one a year will be pretty rare, if ever, which is a shame.

The only glaring error I see is SMU needs to be swapped for Houston, who would have made the field as the G5 rep in 2015. Everything else looks right at least for the G5 reps.

I don't understand the argument for getting Clemson into the SEC, but then here's Oklahoma.

Maybe FSU and Clemson should join the Big 12? The Big 12 could really use a marquee name and there's no BC, Syracuse, or SMU to drag down strength of schedule.
