ROLL CALL OF CURRENT CHAMPIONS World Champion: Moose Even before he joined forces with Brian Myers and the Edwards, I expected Moose to beat Alex Shelly and win the title. It was time. We've already got an immediate challenger in Nic Nemeth for Moose to get through while building up the next legitimate challenger. Tag Team Champions: The ABC Bullet Club's representatives in TNA are still champions, having successfully defended the titles in a four-way. Of course, Trent Seven didn't make it to Hard to Kill due to flights getting delayed because of winter storms, so there's an opening for Speedball Mountain to get a one-on-one match with Austin & Bey. Don't forget the Time Splitters, either.... X Division Champion: Chris Sabin Twenty years on, Sabin is STILL the standard-bearer in the X Division. That's pretty crazy. Anyway, I'd suspect Eddie Edwards (a former X Division Champion) gets a bump from the System being formed and gets a title shot sooner rather than later. Knockouts World Champion: Jordynne Grace Considering Trinity is expected back in WWE very soon, it was patently obvious that she was dropping the title ASAP. Grace is also not a bad choice for champion! With Gisele Shaw winning Ultimate X51, we have a program. Knockouts World Tag Team Champions: Decay Spooooooooky! Rosemary and Havok have reverted to their non-civilian gimmicks and won the tag titles from MKUltra. We'll see who is next for them, because I'm drawing a blank at the moment. Digital Media Champion: Crazzy Steve Hey, at least Tommy Dreamer isn't wrestling anymore. NEXT PAY-PER-VIEW EVENT: Rebellion April 20th from Las Vegas (again) Edward Mass fucked around with this message at 06:25 on Feb 9, 2024 |

Moose is perfect in his role as a big bully. He's physically large enough to push around smaller wrestlers, but not too big that he can't move. Not to mention, he's also pretty good in the ring (I remember non-TNA watchers being shocked how good he was when he wrestled Ishii at a New Japan show). Everyone's friendly with one another, AFAIK. The only reason I could see El Hijo del Vikingo stop doing the occasional AEW date is if AEW and AAA break their partnership for CMLL reasons.

Personally, I would skip to 2004 in the Asylum years if you want to see the good old days. At that point, Vince Russo was gone and they were finding their footing as a promotion.

Nic Nemeth doing dates, Mustafa Ali doing dates, and I hope that's it for recent WWE fires.

Here's the thing about pro wrestling in 2002: it was VERY problematic. This is not to absolve TNA of sins, it's just a matter of fact.

Man, that's WILD. The fact that there's been no reason listed is...troubling, to say the least.

If true, I can see why Anthem canned him - they didn’t want a hostile takeover of the company.

On the OTHER hand, it's better for wrestling that Anthem bought TNA Wrestling, as opposed to Billy Corgan or WWE.

People who say wrestlers in TNA would be better pushed in AEW should look at the wrestlers who made the same jump since 2020 - they all fit the pattern of “get a push, briefly, then slum in in ROH”.

I guess the question should be asked, then: if you don't watch Impact, what would get you to start?

Chris James 2 posted:Final numbers were 19,700 TV PPV buys (more than double Bound for Glory 2023, which was already considered a huge success), easily eclipses Kenny/Swann, and counting streaming buys did around 60,000. Same as the record, Joe/Kurt at Genesis 2006 for a promotion with WAY less market share than 2006, that’s pretty outstanding.

Alex Shelly is probably turning heel on KUSHISA, and I don’t know how to feel about this.

Ganso Bomb posted:Do you think TNA picks up Kevin Kelly now that he’s been fired from AEW? Maybe NWA is a more likely place for him to pop up. TNA doesn’t need Kevin Kelly - Tom Hannifan is the best PBP guy they’ve had since Mike Tenay (if not better), and I doubt TNA would spend any money for someone who just does Xplosion.
