I AM GRANDO posted:If they weren’t going to develop the investigation, they could have at least developed the characters. Two detectives talking on a car ride should be the core of True Detective, but they forgot to make the characters fun in that way. Hey they turned on the siren and lights when they were leaving that village on the north shore that probably has several vehicles per week. That was the fun part of the drive.

This will be the rift that makes him marry the Night Queen and restore peace between the ice zombies and the humans and end the long night. It will be a dramatic sacrifice.

Next episode we should see the mid season shootout which I'm guessing will be possessed polar bears attacking the mining company blasting ice breath and throwing oranges at the miners which turn them into screaming hell zombs. Rust Cohle shows up and announces he's a Brujo, and has to escort Navarro and Captain Danvers across the battlefield to the center of it to cast his spell in a technological marvel of an 8 minute single take. Marnie shows up at the last minute to disrupt the lines of his magic circle which are made of meth.

I think the spiral shape is for this timeline the last white walker. Which is the Night Queen. In the olden times the swirls had 6-8 tails for all the white walkers existing. But since there's only one left it's just a single swirl. The Night Queen is trying to make some White Walkers and figured a dudesicle would do a bunch at once.

It's about loving hawt guys and chin stripes and the intersection of those weakening the barrier between Alaska and the Night Country creating the conditions that increase the likelihood a mid tier devil is going to wander around tossing transmogrification oranges around and loving up eyes and ears of people and polar bears.

I think Jodie Foster has been doing some mighty fine AC-Ting, especially this last episode when she was playing drunk. She does pull off that manic, part time mommy tough and not-too-good cop thing. Her character is just kind of an rear end in a top hat. It would be great if the state autopsy transfer thing that she tried to delay comes back immediately and the cause of death is some kind of acute chemical brain toxin (from the polluted water or bacteria, I don't care.)

We need to get Otis out of jail and get him to help us navigate the caves. I'm going to steal some heroin out of the evidence room against my strong convictions to get him focused enough to do it. Sol Star shoots Otis twice. Freshman shoots Sol Star. Navarro tells the freshman to clean up these bodies and dump them there. Navarro tells Captain Danvers we need to go investigate the caves right now, apparently they don't need Otis anymore.

The guys Navarro tried to perform police brutalization on were more respectful of human life. They were careful not to mess with her cheek piercings. And she was up and around in a day.

That was some of the Truest Detectiving I've ever seen. Everyone should be aware of the dangers of a scientist stab rush, it's very common when you damage their stupid science toys. Night Country Season Two, when?

No see scientists like pollutants, it makes their science go faster so they can drill baby, drill. Faster. And the main thing they were worried about was keeping their jerbs, which only worked if they kept approving the environmental impact studies they wrote for their employer, the mine.

When an I-5 Snownado strikes at most it leaves a half inch of snow though it knocks down power and severs fiber optic connections. The people who deal with snow just go out at zero dark thirty on New Year's Eve to clear it up just as fast as it's coming down. If you're stuck at a remote research station, absolutely don't get into one of the Suburbans or Excursions in the parking lot and start the engine to keep warm, that won't work, the Snownado has cut power to those as well. Just start a hobo fire in a garage, this is the smart move.

And they really liked that hosed up DVD of Fenris Buhler's day off where it looped the parade scene, they'd leave that on for hours as background noise to their science making.

Reflecting on this masterpiece which will in time be regarded as well as the Sopranos or a Wire, I'm wondering how they filled up that pool for the water birthing scene. I recall it looking murky af, and didn't notice a huge pile of empty water bottles when she was walking in, I'd bet it was a garden hose from a tap.

They covered this, it makes the permafrost, which is not like a layer of permanently frozen winter shards of ice in the mushy peat bog ground hard, but literally a solid block of ice filled with skeletons that they take ice core samples out of softer, so they can drill faster. The ice is softer so they can drill faster and deeper and get more of the dawn of life bacteria out of the bore holes quicker.

I take it back I don't want True Detective: Night Country season 2 anymore, I want a prequel. True Detective: Day Country where they show the mine showing up in town. Billie Lee Tuttle: Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for visiting with us this evening. Now I've traveled across half our continent to be here and to see about this land. Now I daresay some of you might have heard some of the more extravagant rumors about what my plans are, so I just thought you'd like to hear it from me. This is the face -- it's no great mystery. I'm a drill man, ladies and gentlemen. I have numerous concerns spread across this continent. I have many boreholes flowing at many thousand ice core samples per day. I like to think of myself as a drill man. And as an drill man I hope that you'll forgive just good old-fashioned plain speaking. Now this work that we do is very much a family enterprise. I -- I work side by side with my wonderful son Errol Childress I think one or two of you might have met him already. I encourage my men to bring their families as well. Of course it makes for an ever so much more rewarding life for them. Family means children; children means education. So wherever we set up camp, education is a necessity, and we're just so happy to take care of that. So let's build a wonderful school in Ennis. These children are the future that we strive for and so they should have the very best of things. Now something else, and please don't be insulted if I speak about this: Mac N Cheese. Let's talk about Mac N Cheese. Now to my mind, it's an abomination to consider that any man, woman, or child in this magnificent country of ours should have to look upon a pot of Kraft Mac N Cheese as a luxury. We're going to dig mines here. Mines mean irrigation; irrigation means cultivation. We're going to open convenience stores here where before it just simply was impossible. You're going to have more Mac N Cheese than you know what to do with. Mac N Cheese will be coming right out of your ears, ma'am. New roads, agriculture, employment, education, advanced medical facilities and outpatient mental health centers these are just a few of the things we can offer you, and I assure you ladies and gentlemen, that if we do find ancient bacterial life here, and I think there's a very good chance that we will, this community of yours will not only survive, it will flourish.

Did somebody get the make/model of that drill that was apparently so fragile that a lady swinging a club could destroy it for two years? Or was it like a kitbashed ryobi drill press and they just avoided going down there for a couple years since they shanked Annie K with a drillbit that many times like she was waiting in the lunch line? I mean not like it mattered, their main job was to falsify EPA reports and live in some kind of nerd paradise, maintaining that facility with that many staff the yearly budget must have been tremendous, I think the cost of a drill was not the limiting factor here.

When that multiple amputee scientist woke up in the hospital and called Navarro by her first name and said her mother says hello and she was waiting for her, I guess that was Annie K possessing his body temporarily, or he was just such a creeper that he knew the names of officials in town and that was just the kind of thing he posted regularly?

And Annie K figured it out just from some scribbles on a scrap of paper. I went over my desk today and made sure I didn't have any scribbles on random pieces of paper documenting any major scandals at work. Two post its shredded, done. I also learned from this show to take phone photos of any drillbits I see. The scientist guys I think had a deleted scene where they argued about what to do with the body and started eating it, leaving lots of extra evidence which was confusing and ambiguous as the mystery was unfolding.

The Fenris Buhler's Day Off DVD wasn't just someone putting in the same messed up disc and annoying everyone until they had to walk all the way to the entertainment room and open the cabinet to turn it off. This was deep allegory because these guys finally got their day off from fighting over the porn share drive and having sick LAN tournaments at 10PM every drat night.

Night Country Season 2 will be called Day Country. The mine opens back up and their waste/pollution is safely piped to the sea which is only a few hundred feet away. Everyone is happy, the economy is booming again, they are able to reopen the Hardee's that closed down when the miners left. But then the natives start getting angry because the whales, seals, sea lions and the other marine life they like to hunt and fish start getting poisoned. Then a single orange rolls down main street. Miners start reporting strange sightings in the mines and there's a collapse in one of their tunnels sealing all of the miners in. With only a single outstretched arm sticking out from the rubble, clutching a phone with a mysterious video suggesting they are not alone in those mines.
