so developers just generally don't use static linking on windows? or do you mean they use those glue dlls

because i'm trying to think of the last time i saw a *.lib outside of a development environment and coming up empty. i don't even think i ever saw them on windows nt/2k/xp etc.

e: obviously 9x is a different story
