Huckabee Sting posted:I've just now realized that the Major Defense order wasn't personally for me, but is a meta-event for everyone. I've been doing nothing but defense orders because I thought I wasn't doing it right or something. I've done some offense runs to help break up the monotony so I'm not completely behind. Infinitum posted:Picked this up and am pretty hype. Trying to convince some IRL friends to join me, as this'll be right up their alley Most weapons are sidegrades, the main thing is that they won't have the tools at the start to deal with heavy armour and at the very start they won't have any stratagems. Otherwise it's fine.

I've got like 18 hours logged since release, mostly playing with pubs and honestly haven't had a single bad experience. Did play with a few people who didn't know what they were doing, but that isn't really bad in a coop game.

Considering how much stuff in the game simply doesn't work it is genuinely impressive how fun it is.

I once had a mission with a guy trying the Arc for the first time, I died like five times from friendly fire. Extremely patriotic gun.

I think the AMR and Railgun having similar roles is fine because they have extremely different gunfeels, so people can pick what they enjoy more.

I have been running the laser dog and flamer with the starting rifle against bugs and honestly it is great at thinning the herds and fighting everything but Bile Titans. I usually bring two eagles with it, but I think I'll replace one with EAT.

Bots definitely require a different approach to fight than bugs, yeah, but even accounting for that I'd say they're generally harder. I drop difficulty one level when deploying on the western front against the socialists.

My initial reaction to everyone having the same mission was aversion, but honestly it is pretty funny to have everyone using the same bullshit to clear their dailies and I will always stand with funny.

Mesadoram posted:My impression of mines are that they are a really great tool to piss off your teammates and do almost nothing to the enemies. I remember being on call with a friend after dropping a minefield and telling him to remind me that I dropped mines in that spot. Cue me five minutes later dying to one of the mines and bursting into laughter. Totally worth it.

Tommy the Newt posted:I'm braced for this being an unpopular opinion but the live service aspect of the game is starting to get me down. I appreciate that they're trying to do something new and I genuinely wish them well with it, with a few tweaks I'd probably be into it, but I find currently the cost to individual player choice too high. I get where you're coming from, but I am still reporting you for sedition. I think mission effect is a bit a consequence of the game suffering for its own success. HD1 had an all-time high of 6,744 concurrent players and while I am sure the devs hoped to do better than that, they certainly didn't antecipate doing almost a hundred times that, so we have to have fractions of fractions of percentages per op. It still matters, same as in voting, which I guess makes this the most democratic game there is. It could be interesting to have a custom mode that let you pick a mission type, world type, enemy type and modifiers and just let you go at it, not gonna lie. I also agree that it is rare, specially during weeks, to have the time to commit to a full op. I guess it's not really a surprise that a lot of people just do one mission and then skip out, I am certainly guilty of that sometimes.

novaSphere posted:Just had my Shipmaster NPC talk about how a 'fraction' of Terminids are showing resistance to the poison and that this was 'to be expected, of course' My bet is that we are also going to fix the bots in the next series of major orders and then the hinges will fall out as the Illuminate comes in and we've somehow made the other two factions even stronger.

I feel I am the only Slugger hater in the world, there's just something about the gun that feels off to me. I definitely don't like it against bugs, still figuring out my bot loadout (currently Eagle Air Strike, Eagle 500 kg, Autocannon and Explosive Mortar), trying to experiment with smoke grenades too.

Black Noise posted:That evacuate the citizens mission can gently caress up real real fast. Boy, yeah, we had an op last night going well, third was an evacuation and holy poo poo, that was a sea of bots. Three minutes in we couldn't extract anyone else from the excess socialism, the entire place was just craters by the point we ran out of time and reinforcements. It was awesome, but didn't contribute to the defense of Daupnir.

that's some master move in marketing speaking of, this thread moves too quickly for me to thank the poster proper, but thanks to whoever posted a quick guide on how to farm super credits. Found myself a good map and watched Starship Troopers for the first time since I was like ten while super crediting on auto. I am now ready for democracy.

The biggest problem with the shield is that you let go of it if you get ragdolled. I really want to like it, but it's very easy to lose it. Maybe it will be better when the Illuminate or their sucessor faction shows up, as they might have less explosive ordnance compared to bots.

What is this treasonous talk? Creek and Tibit will be liberated today, and the Automatons will be relegated to two periphery worlds that will swiftly fall. We'll back on Super Earth for the victory march this Tuesday evening.

So, do the Gunships have any weakpoints that can be damaged by medium penetration small arms like the AMR or HMG? I shot one at the engine but was unsure if that was what did the deed, otherwise kind of feels like anti-tank is going to be needed. Guess that's why command is giving free EATs at the Creek.

Another good use for mortars is that they will continue firing once you're gone from that area and will attract patrols to their location, reducing aggro on the squad.

Honestly, I think a better nerf on the Slugger would be on its accuracy, so it's still good at short/mid range but isn't better than the frigging DMR's at their jobs.
