Wish someone had told me before I returned the game that the intro screen lies to you and the "mandatory" captcha I couldn't pass isn't actually mandatory and you can just skip it.

Debating whether or not to buy it again. because man does it look fun, but that whole experience left such a sour taste in my mouth, what sort of company tells you you need to pass 20 captchas to play a game (and then makes you take 40)?

The what now?

There's a screen that says you need to link it to a playstation account to play, but wouldn't let me create one to link it to unless I correctly answered 20 captcha questions, and when it did I said I needed to answer another 20, and then it told me I had failed and wouldn't be able to proceed.

I didn't realize you could just skip by that screen and still play (since the screen explicitly and directly says you can't)

Wait holy poo poo this happened to you too? It was when I was trying to link my Playstation account, which it said WAS mandatory, and it made me do this stupid matching puzzle 8 times, and then I guess I messed one up, so it made me do it 8 more times, and again it said "that wasn't quite right" and made me do it again. It took me literally four repetitions = 32 puzzles to get in. Like what on loving superearth I felt like a goddamn 3rd grader being told I couldn't go to recess until I got 100% on the worksheet.

Yep, same thing here, except it started out wanting me to do 20 for the first batch and then when it said "that wasn't quite right" at the end of the second batch of 20 I decided to give up.

Based on the high starting count, at this point I'm assuming it had already decided I was 100% a robot and it was never going to let me pass no matter how well I answered.

It requires me to do the same 40 questions and then fail process to enable 2fa, so that doesn't help.

What did help is asking one of my family members to create an account for me which they managed to do with no problem (just a simple 2 question captcha and a much easier one than my brain melter), and then i linked that to my steam account. So that's part done, at least! I repurchased the game, confident i had solved the problem and excited to play, finally got to do the tutorial and get my cape (which took multiple tries since I kept getting booted due to network issues)... and discovered that attempting to select a mission from the mission select screen instantly crashes my game.

Man, this is a bad week. It started out with blood and sewage and really hasn't gotten any better since then, I just wanna shoot some goddamned bugs and chill out for a while. ;_;

Its got a lot of REALLY good mods and it uses the thunderstore mod manager which makes it trivial for everyone to play together with them, which helps a lot. My group is still playing it every week, and honestly I can see going back to it for years just because the fundamentals are so good (its sound design execution was WAY better than decent)

Theres apparently a major content upgrade in the pipeline.

Why is the anti material rifle so goddamned bad? Like, it's genuinely surprising how bad it does. It reliably leaves things alive that my goddamn side arm kills with no problem. It fails to take down basic robot infrantry with two body shots, despite that being enough to kill them with basically any other weapon in the game (and I actually had several survive what I could swear were head shots, even). And it's a sniper rifle you have you aim with low ammo capacity. And it seems to be less accurate at range than the machine gun is, somehow!?

I expected it to... I dunno, do something, be good at something, but what is the point? As is, I'm gonna be glad to be done with this mission and never touch it again. Am I missing something?

Each character has a hundred levels they can accumulate across various skills like accuracy and stamina that significantly improve performance and get discarded to start over every time you die.

The stats do nothing, but good luck surviving long enough to figure that out.

At least the ones today responded to instructions, it was glorious, we got a few perfect missions because they were willing to listen to basic suggestions. The point of evacuation missions is, I think, to keep the momentum. But if you bring the right gear and strategy you totally can get the momentum back even from a pretty bad situation, or at least enough to push another few batches of folks over the finish line. It usually involves drawing the enemy's off somewhere else to fight.

Not only did we clear it, I got the cheevo for doing an extreme mission with no one dying too, lol. Trivial missions type.

I still really love bringing a machine gun and EATs to every mission (because the eats can be fired and dropped so I can pock back up the machine gun). The machine gun is still just my favorite weapon in the game by a big margin. Just so fun to shoot at max rpm.

It seems like it takes ~3 EAT shots to take out a charger too, which is annoying. I brought EAT on a "Kill Chargers" mission and both of them took 3 hits. So not only would you need to bring them, you'd need to use more than one pod of them.

One EAT to the leg will sometimes kill a charger, and if it doesn't you can finish it off with less than a clip from your primary by hitting the hole it makes. Also, I usually kill the first Charger with the pod itself, don't forget the utility of them coming in an insta-kill package!

I'm actually fine with the damage EATs do, but I would absolutely love if they dropped three instead of two, maybe with an upgrade or something.

I mean, I sometimes beeline for extraction just cause it can be nice to have the dropship ready to go for folks, but I also trot around the map afterwards blowing up nests and getting samples usually, and aside from one mission today where someone was apparently in a huge hurry to leave, everyone seems fine with holding the ship for me while I do it unless it looks like we are gonna squad wipe if they dont bail, often times someone else will even do the same in another area after dropping off their samples at evac

So I've fallen out of love with the gas. It's good and powerful and the reload is quick but the fact that it's accuracy is fuckin' garbo really tanks it's usefulness. When I throw gas, I want the gas THERE, not a hundred feet away on top of a mountain! It happens often enough that it gets quite frustrating after a while, which sucks! Why handicap it like that?

Also, I generally play where my group sets a way point at the next objective, we all split up and take sligjtly different routes to get to it to nab stuff on the way, and then we might up and have a big fight before repeating and extracting. I like it that way, plenty of shooting, plenty of sneaking, we are regularly on our own but also close enough to help each other out. Seems optimal to me, in terms of maximizing fun and rewards both on higher levels.
