The Super Earth Armed Forces (SEAF) are the regular troopers, you can find them in various places dead on the ground, usually near like the artillery secondary objective and the like.

Sure, sure, someone else mentioned that too, but like -- it doesn't seem like a single AI Skynet that's just building warmachines, it seems like they are specifically producing T-600 skeleton bots and then outfitting them with tanks and rocket packs and armor and whatever. To me, it seems like a sign that they're more of an actual civilization with a culture and everything. If it was just a race of killbots that want to kill stuff, they wouldn't be beholden to the T-600 look, they'd just churn out whatever giant tanks and walkers and stuff a robot brain inside the armor. But no, they're reproducing more of themselves, they're not just creating whatever killer robots would work best, just like we reproduce more humans and generally aren't creating enormous fleshy hulks with a brain inside.

Well they have a marching song.

Similar to jammers you need to rapidly advance up to the eye of sauron, preferably starting the fight on your own terms so you're already next to the eye on its raised platform when the first dropships are landing around it. Once you get the platform clear it's done, you can drop the hellbomb right next to it out of LOS of the stuff dropping/marching around it, then hop off the side to safety on whichever side is clear after the bomb is ticking. I'd suggest 2 people to seamlessly blast your way through the initial guards and a railgun strike on hand for the occasional tank/hulk parked on the platform with the tower, but it's very easy to get in and out.

Fangz posted:

So while Armor Rating supposedly works now, one thing the devs haven't been clear on is how much penetration enemies' attacks have (as they will negate a certain amount of Armor Rating).

From just loose testing/experience (I have the Heavy Armor with 200 Armor Rating that you buy with Super Credits), Bile Titans' attacks still don't give a poo poo about your Armor Rating and will one shot you even if you a bulky boi. I imagine that Cannon shots still one shot you all the same, but I hope it means that you can take a lot more attacks from rank-and-file dudes.

Still can't shake playing in Light Armor feeling better, though.

Actually I feel like I'm more able to survive getting winged by a Bile Titan's barf beam than before. Obviously you can't get hit head on.

Also in general it feels like I'm surviving a bunch of enemies in melee better. Still gonna die if you get swarmed bad but you are more survivable.

Can any Helldivers 1 player explain how the mech and tanks worked?

Because in the last three pages there are several people mentioning how surely, with mechs and poo poo the game will be easier, and the higher difficulties won't be that hard with them. But... I doubt it works like that, that they are a straight upgrade to players powers, otherwise the game will turn into a mech game with all players always selecting one.
Surely they will have important tradeoffs in comparison with other options, like speed, being able to be hostigated by hordes until it falls into the ground, limited ammo, only 1 call, etc. From what we have seen of how these devs work and balance stuff in the game, I doubt is going to be that simple as four players with a mech each owning Titans easily.

In Helldivers 1, you only got 1 vehicle call in per stratagem for the entire mission, and couldn't refill its ammo. Once you ran out, you're out.

Thank god the Devs have made it essentially impossible to nerf the ammo capacity without a lot of work. Backpack with visible spare mags. Multi mag load means even -1 is a huge deal that needs to also check for "8 capacity gun now loaded with 9 bullets" shenanigans.

Now, nerfing the damage so it takes 5 shots for a spitter and 9 for a charger butt on the other hand... Yeah that is probably coming.

They literally said both the autocannon and grenade launcher are perfectly balanced as is and they're very happy with their performance.

BTW I'm saying this after multiple rounds of playing with people who were using it. It's going to be everywhere in a week, Railgun v2.

I imagine they'll just put it on a heat system or give it ammo, because it's simply too good to not have some kind of rate limiter. So my advice to you is, enjoy it while it lasts.
