I always wonder about claims that jokes have to be offensive in order to be funny. Who exactly was offended by the parrot sketch? Did the Pythons get death threats from outraged pet shops and cheesemongers for besmirching their businesses? Did metalheads riot when Spinal Tap said their amp went to 11? Did "And don't call me Shirley" make everyone named Shirley instantly angry? When Mr. Bean got a turkey stuck on his head was the BBC flooded with demands to shut him down over the insensitive "turkeyface" portrayal?

In the comments you'll often see someone say it's mean to the cat. Like the ones where people put down cucumbers and the cat thinks it's a snake or whatever. "You're stressing them out on purpose!" They're not necessarily wrong either.
