There was a push to get Carlos Emmons into the pro bowl as a strong side linebacker because he was legitimately great at covering tight ends. It didn't go anywhere and now no one knows who Carlos Emmons is

I know a bunch of random guys from video games.

In the franchise mode of whichever Madden came out the year Thomas Jones was drafted, he basically always became the greatest running back of all time. 100 speed, 100 agility, 100 hands, 100 strength, 100 everything. He would inevitably become Marshall Faulk x 100, and I still find the fact that he didn't do that IRL irrationally frustrating. There's a tiny part of my brain that insists the morass of the early 2000s Arizona Cardinals kept him from becoming the GOAT, because how could the N64 Madden ratings be wrong?

Linebacker, yes. Cardinals, no. He played for Washington and then the Giants and IIRC had a career ending knee or leg injury against Dallas in what was Romo’s first serious action (Maybe the game where he replaced Bledsoe?).

I'll always remember him as part of the failed Dan Snyder Super Team that included Deion and Bruce Smith. They were supposed to stomp the NFC East that year, but went 8-8 and missed the playoffs, which in no way previewed the next two decades of Washington football.

Oh I remember Joe Horn, I feel like he always loving tore up the Rams. The Saints were one of only two teams to beat the 2001 Rams in the regular season, and they did it in our house after being down like 24-6 at halftime. Horn had 8 for 121 yards and 2 TDs.

Between that and the playoff game with Az Hakim (a Remember a Football Guy if there ever was one) muffing the kick, that was a really good incipient rivalry snuffed out by realignment

Let's remember Fred Barnett instead, a cool and good receiver who probably would have been top-tier if he hadn't been stuck on a Rich Kotite offense. Also was on the receiving end of one of the greatest plays in Eagles history - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vl4xVct1hM
