fair, everything from the judges, commentary, over production of the entire event and the dunks themselves vacillating from kinda impressive to "we've seen it before" makes it a downer for the final event. idk what can incentivize bigger names to join but i think the only way it can return to any sort of former glory is having a hype of like.. zion vs ant.

personally i think tonight could have been a lot better if jacob made it to the next round in place of JB-- it was more of a scoring thing than a broadcast coverage thing for me

i do think that the steph v sabrina event showed that there's a lot of potential in setting up 1v1 events relative to the current all-star weekend schedule. hell just work to set up a few fun 1v1 shooting contests in the weeks before ASB and make a night of it. get trae v luka, get bron vs anyone, play into the narratives and whatnot when you can. that'll easily become the secondary marquee event imo

Do it like the Olympics where you have compulsory dunks. Maybe make only the finals have freestyle dunks.
