seems like a bad choice when you can get a b-stock Framework 13 with an i7 for $499, OP

i think for the weird chinese netbooks one-x is the place that might work, e.g.: https://onexplayerstore.com/products/one-netbook-a1-intel-11th-core-i3-1110g4

they're then not cheap, but i think that's the thrust of the thread, it's not going to be good and cheap. might also be not-cheap and not-good.

as a general recommendation liliputing is increasingly sprawling and sponsor poo poo, but it is ultimately still a blog in 2024 doing small computers: https://liliputing.com/. it is as minimum fun. which is not that common in computing. now.

tangential, but we're awash in 3d printers, mail order PCB services, and various other fab type stuff as well as cheap small OLED screens. Give me the single din hardware Winamp front panel already

anyway a few years ago i actually did get a laptop from aliexpress, a BMAX Y11. it's aluminum, real thin, has a celeron n4400 and a 11" 1080p lcd, gets like 14 hours of battery life and has a surprisingly decent keyboard. i like netbooks

it came with some garbage ssd of course but it also has a slot to swap it with a different one, and i had a spare. so whose to say if its bad or not

e: i got it in 2018 so i don't remember exactly but i think it was $199
