I read the book (and all other Clavell’s except the Whirlwind) last year and I agree with all other posters saying that this was exactly what I saw in my head when reading. King Rat was maybe my favourite, it could be a fun miniseries or a TV movie.

Gaijin was a problematic book but I thought it had good suspense and scheming. But yeah that one main thing kind of ruins the rest also
