Andrew Bridgen was in Sweden speaking at an event hosted by Robert F Kennedy Jr’s antivax group while his young son was at home facing a medical crisis.

The former Conservative MP, who has become a leading voice in the global campaign against vaccinations, ignored frantic calls from his wife, Nevena, as their five-year-old’s health deteriorated, she claims.

Nevena, whose family hail from Serbia, was alone in London with her sick child, going backwards and forwards to the hospital, while she says her husband was on the streets of Sweden “acting as an antivax revolutionary and neglecting his son during a health emergency”.

It was the moment Nevena, 43, finally concluded that her husband had been captured by what she considers a“cult”.

quote:

When Bridgen returned home after more than a week’s absence, Nevena confronted him about his behaviour. His response shocked her. She claims he told her that the whole of “humanity was at stake” and if he succeeded he would be saving the world — something he hoped his son would one day be proud of. Nevena said: “I felt like I was in that Matrix film and that he was telling me he was the chosen one. Except this is not a blockbuster movie, this is my life.”

Not long afterwards, she claims Bridgen convinced her to give up the tenancy on their Westminster taxpayer-funded flat to look for a new home. The couple signed the lease on a new flat not long before Nevena flew back to Belgrade for her aunt’s funeral. She claims that on the day of the funeral, Bridgen texted Nevena to say he had cancelled the lease on the new flat — effectively leaving her and her son homeless. He also blocked her number, leaving her no way to contact him.

Galloway is a horrible self-serving oval office with many horrible beliefs*, but now that I've had time to think about it, I'm glad he won the by-election. For starters, the other candidates were equally self-serving shitcunts with horrible beliefs, but they wouldn't provide anywhere near the same level of entertainment nor upset the right people. Those other candidates would have just absorbed into the parliamentary borg, occasionally stepping out of the collective consciousness to lobby for the really important things in our cost of living crisis, like one of the mini-Keir's here:

Birmingham council approves biggest budget cuts in local authority history

quote:

Councillors in Birmingham have approved what are thought to be the biggest budget cuts in local authority history, with residents warning that the consequences could be “disastrous” for the city.

Birmingham city council met on Tuesday afternoon to debate and vote on a proposed set of cuts that will see the loss of up to 600 council jobs, arts grants scrapped, libraries closed and bin collections reduced to fortnightly.

They also include funding cuts to adult social care, children’s services, flood defences and highway maintenance, while street lights across the city will be dimmed.

The Labour-run council also approved a 10% council tax increase for the upcoming financial year, after being granted special permission from the government to increase the rate above the national cap on account of the council declaring itself effectively bankrupt in September.

When they say 'funding cuts to adult social care and children’s services', it means they are going to kill more vulnerable people.

Ministers deny plans for May election but face calls to explain summit cancellation

quote:

A minister has been forced to deny plans for a May election as the government faced calls to explain why a top diplomat was kept ‘in the dark’ over the cancellation of a major summit in April.

Rishi Sunak had been due to host political and business leaders from 25 different African countries at the gathering in London.

But it will not now be held at the end of April, a decision taken so abruptly the event’s official envoy was already on his way to visit the continent when he found out, ministers have admitted.

Pensioner seen seemingly spraying slur on Margaret Thatcher statue as police release appeal for information

quote:

A pensioner has been captured on CCTV seemingly etching a slur in bright red paint on the Margaret Thatcher statue in her home town. The £300,000 monument of the Iron Lady was defaced with the word 'b*****d' in what has become the latest offence in a string of vandal attacks against the statue.

Cops are now investigating this latest attack which is believed to have taken place overnight on March 5-6, at around midnight in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Investigators from Lincolnshire Police have released a still image from CCTV footage showing a pensioner seemingly scrawling the derogatory message in paint.

The person can be seen dressed in a long coat, sporting a white patterned scarf and has short grey hair. Cleaners managed to remove the vulgar statement by lunchtime today but police are appealing for the photographed person to come forward. Police say they have identified a person after an appeal but, at the time of writing, this had not led to an arrest.

The party had planned to fund the flagship policies by replacing the UK's current "non-dom" tax regime.

His Labour counterpart Ms Reeves has admitted it will force her to tweak her own plans.

Speaking to the BBC, she said Labour would now "go through every pound" in the government's spending plans to fund the policies.

Chris Kaba shooting: Martyn Blake pleads not guilty to murder

quote:

A Metropolitan Police firearms officer named for the first time as Martyn Blake has pleaded not guilty to murdering Chris Kaba.

Mr Kaba, 24, died from a single gunshot wound in a Met operation in Streatham, south London, in September 2022.

Mr Blake, 40, had been known by the codename NX121 after threats were made against him but a judge has decided he can now be named.

The officer's trial is set to begin in October.

Judge Mark Lucraft lifted the anonymity order after media organisations, including the BBC, challenged the legal application to protect his identity, on the basis that confidence in the criminal justice system requires cases to be held, wherever possible, in public.

I notice he's not being charged with the theft of the murdered victim's expensive Rolex watch, but I'm glad he's finally in court for murder and the anonymity order is scrapped. FTP etc.
