quote:

Ok, so Waffle House is a 24 hour diner in the US. Mostly in the south east.

They are known for a few things:

Being open, no matter what. So much so the the US government unofficially uses Waffle Houses in disaster stricken areas to quickly assess how bad the disaster is. Things like a hurricane: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffle_House_Index

Because they are a reliable, generally inexpensive diner with pretty good food, people are there at all hours. The crowd coming in after the bar is close at around 2:00-3:00 a.m. are known for being rather rowdy...

They have a way of ordering hash browns that is unique to them. So that's part of the whole vibe.

It is will known that the staff are not to be messed with. They are there to do a job, and tend to be pretty relaxed and fun. But they will fight you if you start a physical fight. Don't start none, won't be none.

They have a jukebox with a bunch of waffle themed takes on popular songs: https://wafflehouse.com/music/

For these reasons Waffle House is known as a place with good diner food, fair pricing, basically always open (unless an actual, legitimate disaster is on going. Even then, they are working hard to get back up and running), with the occasional brawl.

It's the most American diner.

the chair catch is super rad but she started it by hurling a salt shaker at them first and absolutely PUMMELED the one who fell off the counter so while it's cool she perfect parried the flying chair she still sucks

just make it the Pancake Hutch and have it be like man of steel where you start the fight in the parking lot and the wall break has you smashing into the diner directly

I enjoyed how people got mad at them "censoring" that name and agree with Jeff Gerstmann that everyone in the game now just saying "FB's" all the time is stupider and funnier

I very quickly got tired of Mad Max haha. Also I think it's time to give it up. I just am not into Dragon's Dogma 2. I want to like it but it just doesn't pull me in. I should have known better because the exact same thing happened with the first one. I doubt I can get a refund with 7 hours in it. I'd give it to someone if I could.

So I think I'll try Pentiment.

dradog's 2 a very specific kind of spice, and i think they overplayed their hand again with the overall size of the game. it's still a game i appreciate for its ambition and a lot of the early moments of exploration and combat that were highly memorable

yeah I'm in love with dd2 but they extremely made, a sequel to dragons dogma with barely any compromises for the people that alienates. i wish it didnt get wrapped up in a bunch of dumb culture war poo poo so i could see people mad about the design of the game instead of mad about it being Woke and a bunch of made up stuff repeated by morons

Yeah and I don't want them to change dd 2 at all. I'm very happy to have supported the developers and I'm happy it's a weird game that appeals to a niche. The industry spends too long trying to appeal to everyone and it all just becomes bland.

So far I am so into Pentiment. Growing up catholic a lot of this appeals to me. So far I've decided I studied in Italy I focused on business and I studied medicine orator skills with a logic background. Seemed to make sense because Andreas is planning on starting a business.

The best advice I can give you for Pentiment (spoilered so you can ignore it entirely if you want) is that Andreas doesn't ALWAYS need to be the smartest guy in the room.

yeah dd has a weird unearned reputation for having good spells but it entirely comes out gifs of the spell animations and not from people actually playing the game. spellcasters are loving miserable in these games and should be left only to pawns (dd2 spellcasting is, slightly more interesting than in dd1 at least). all the melee classes in dd2 have incredible movesets though
