The LLM approach to AI seems like it's applicable to mostly bad poo poo and not to much of worth IMO. but then I am a sourpuss goon who only sees the worst in everything so there you go. Disinformation Ripping off creative people and decreasing their ability to earn a living Putting a load of irritating nonsense in every search result I do so it gets to the point I can't read the word "certainly" without scowling etc.

Rad-daddio posted:Is the word "certainly" some kind of tell for AI written stuff? some LLMs have a tendency to produce responses starting with "certainly!" for example I came up with a query off the top of my head just now: "sql server delete from one table via join" and this is what Bing spits out in its little AI sidebar:

i read that Ed Zitron article and then read another one which links to this tweet featuring a Sora video. not super impressed. everything in the video right down to the bedclothes appears to be a The Thing. https://twitter.com/tomwarren/status/1758203473881956689

Tarkus posted:Well LLM's, as they are, are good for text generation, question answering, language translation, sentiment analysis, summarization, code generation, tutoring and education, customer service, and research assistance. I use it all the time for all kinds of things. ok but we were talking about Sora, the video-generation thing OpenAI are currently teasing

Ed Zitron's latest article is him taking a big poo poo on Sam Altman. it's pretty good (or at least entertaining to see someone dunk on Altman)quote:Much like ChatGPT, Altman is capable only of loosely approximating the output requested, because at his core he lacks any of the substance or technical history required to do so. Like ChatGPT, he’s a know-nothing that, through deterministic measures completely detached from the meaning of the underlying ideas, picks the right words to say at the right time.

I guess we know that AI has really "arrived" now that it has people who will defend it to the death on the internet against its Enemies
