I just want one megacorp to go down in flames in a way that makes it extremely obvious the entire downfall was due to some dipshit saying “let’s use ai!” Just one example. One cautionary tale that’ll make CEOs think twice.

We live in an age where you can easily get more high quality movie music and books than you could ever consume in your entire lifetime. There’s absolutely no reason for anyone to limit themselves to anything recent or demand a robot shart out something made by rolling a bunch of D-20s. I just don’t understand it.

I think my favorite part of AI is people saying it’s useful because you can have it give you a bunch of information on some subject, and that as long as you know to remove the incorrect information you have a good resource Forgetting that if I’m using generative AI to research a subject for me, how the gently caress would I know enough about the subject to know when the AI is wrong? One of my “favorite” uses of AI in recent years might be translation. “Hello human translator. We have replaced your job with a robot. However we want you around to correct the robot because we know it doesn’t do a good enough job. We are making you a proofreader. You get paid less but hey, it’s a lot less work, right?” *translator just throws out the garbage the robot shits out and translates it like normal because it’s far easier that way. Gets paid less for the same work*
